A Brief History of Mankind

Or,
What We Believe and Why You Might be Interested

Way back, in prehistoric times, God made man, but man messed up, just like we all have. [Romans 3:23] So God, in His love and wisdom, made a way for man to stay in contact with Him, and keep away from punishment, The Law. But as time progressed, like many people today, people then began to take The Law the wrong way: It became an outward act, not an external showing of what was felt on the inside. [Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:12] "If I'm a good little girl, and make my confessions and sacrifices, I'll go to heaven." forget Loving God, that's not important. "I can do anything I want, think or feel whatever I want to, and I can get away with it, because I follow The Law outside." (sound familiar? This is what we call Hypocricy.) But God doesn't want your flesh, he wants your heart, your mind, your soul, all of the internal, intangible things that The Law couldn't cover. Enter, Jesus. [Romans 5:8]

If a person messed up at that time, they had to make confession and sacrifices. If someone messes up, it has to be made right. So how could God make an eternal sacrifice, which had to be accepted by our hearts and minds, not just by the physical, the flesh? He would send a perfect person, without sin, to take everyone else's sin. [I Peter 3:18] Then, instead of a lifetime of worry, we can accept that this perfect God-Man, Jesus, as our sacrifice. We no longer have to worry about eternity and punishment (Hell), Jesus has secured our place in Heaven! So what must we do to accept it?

Faith. First we have to tell God that we know we've done things wrong, [I John 1:9] and want to make them right, or "repent" [Acts 3:19] Then we can, and must, believe [Acts 16:31] that we are cleansed through the perfect Son of God, who died in our place. [I John 5:11-13] Yes, it's that simple.

So now what? Let others know [Matthew 10:32, Romans 10:9-10] the good news! God is cool, and He's done awesome things for you! Then, find a good church to go to, if you don't go to one now [Acts 2:41-42, Hebrews 10:24-25], and be baptised there. [Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 8:35-39,Acts 16:30-34, Romans 6:3-5]

Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast.

Romans 3:12

All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I Peter 3:18

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,

I John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Acts 3:19

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

Acts 16:31

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved -- you and your household."

I John 5:11-13

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Matthew 10:32

Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in Heaven.

Romans 10:9-10

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Acts 2:41-42

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Heb 10:24-25

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age

Acts 8:35-39

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." The eunuch answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Acts 16:30-34

He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved -- you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God--he and his whole family.

Romans 6:3-5

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
