Seigle helps Mobiline score 103-98 win over Gordon's Gin SUBIC - Andrew Seigle scored two key baskets in the endgame as he teamed up with reserve forward Joey Santamaria in the closing minutes to give Mobiline a 103-98 win over Gordon's Gin Saturday night in a Philippine Basketball Association pre-season exhibition match at the Subic Gym. After watching a 16-point lead fizzle out, the Cellulars came back strong while the Gins got lost in a maze of errors in the final minute that allowed Mobiline to escape with the victory. With Mobiline trailing 91-97 going into the final two minutes, Seigle, who appeared to be still far from living up to his billing as this year's top PBA draftee, canned an eight-foot jumper. Santamaria added two free throws and Al Solis scored on a steal off Vince Hizon to forge a 97-97 deadlock, 1:26 remaining. Marlou Aquino broke Gordon's silence with a split charity, 98-97, but this proved to be the Gins' final score. Taking advantage of a mismatch with Dodot Jaworski who saw action during crunchtime, Santamaria nailed a side jumper, 51 ticks remaining, that shoved Mobiline to the driver's seat for good. As the Gins tried to regroup, Seigle stole the ball from Aquino and then completed his heroics with a two-handed slam dunk for a 101-98 Mobiline lead, 19 seconds left. The dazed Gins had two more inbound errors in the dying seconds, throwing out any chances of recovering. "It's a big win for us," said new Mobiline coach Norman Black. "But I don't think it could be a good indication of our strength, we should just wait till the start of the season." Jeffrey Cariaso topscored for the winners with 26 points including 16 in the initial half which the Cellulars took by 12, 55-23. The exhibition match was billed by the promoters as "preview of the giants" as Seigle and Aquino, two of the PBA's big men, were matched. Aquino scored nine while Seigle had 10 points. However, the 1996 Rookie of the Year managed to block two of Seigle's inside attempts including an empathic rejection that frustrated the 6-8 Fil-Ame- rican's slam dunk attempt early in the fourth period. -NOEL RODRIGUEZ
