Lt. Commander Jadzia Dax science officer, Deep Space 9 Trill Jadzia and Dax are actually two different organisms - Jadzia is the host body and Dax is a slug-like creature that lives inside the host. The two life forms share a symbiotic relationship, and the "joined" result is one person with the personality traits of both the host and the slug. Jadzia is the 8th host of the Dax symbiont and shares a special bond with Sisko. Jadzia met and married Worf, but their life together was cut short when she was killed by Gul Dukat. The Dax symbiont and Jadzia's memories were transferred into Ezri.
