So, you desire to learn about the woman behind the great man? Well, then you've found the correct page. This is the section dedicated to Dymphna Erlina, the Potion Master's Apprentice. Here will be a short biography and other details about the woman in the classroom, the *cough* bedchambers, and the life of Professor Snape. Not to mention the webmaster of this site. ~_^

A Bit About Me

I am the Potions Master's Apprentice. I enjoy teaching and learning. I am an avid lover of Potions and Magic in general. I cherish my cauldron, my wand, and my ever-growing collection of phials, bottles, and other potions containers.

I can be sarcastic, am often cruel, but always fair. I work hard, but only when it's necessary. I prefer to let others do the work while I pull the strings from behind the curtain. I'm told I have a higher than average intelligence, but I don't tend to brag about it. I find such arrogance detestable and rude. Besides, I have better things to do, like work. I don't suffer fools gladly, however. I suffer nothing gladly. My nature is not one of sunshine, fluffiness, and glee. I much prefer the darkness of night and the stillness of solitude and deep, inner meditation. I have a great love for the music of the night and my artistic nature springs from pain and dark inner struggles.

I was raised among muggles and have an avid love of many muggle contraptions, but I am actually a pureblood witch. It's complicated, m'kay? My family is an odd bunch, to say the least. I have little contact with most of them, owing to the fact that few remain after the days of Lord Voldemort. Those that do, I have no wish to contact.

I did not attend Hogwarts as a student, contrary to what many believe. I could not afford it, due to personal circumstances that I do not wish to discuss, and sympathy is not needed. I attended another, smaller, and lesser-known, but still respectable, magical school in the UK. I was a prefect at that school, which was hardly an accomplishment, due to it's small student population.

When I finished my schooling, Albus Dumbledore offered me an apprentice position at Hogwarts, which I gladly accepted, as becoming a professor has long been my goal. I did not know that Professor Snape was my assigned mentor, nor, apparently, did he. It was an uneasy relationship to start, and I found it very hard to earn his trust and respect. But through many trials and long nights of hard work, I slowly proved my worth to him. None more so than the night I single-handedly brewed a potion he had carelessly left on my desk. To the lay-wizard, it is known as the Wolfsbane Potion and is quite difficult. Long story short: had I not brewed it (and perfectly, truth be told) that night, a horrible accident may have occured, posibly resulting in a student's death, at the hands of a professor in a dire and sad predicament.

To this day, I am still working, albiet long-distance, with that professor, who sadly, no longer holds a post at Hogwarts, creating and testing new variations on the Wolfsbane Potion, in an effort to help others with this horrible, diblitating, and unfairly misunderstood disease. This is a point of some soreness for Professor Snape, owing to a personal boyhood grudge between the two former colleagues, and his personal feelings for myself.

Despite that, the Professor found that I was worth more than he previously expected that night and has since found me and my skills invaluable to him. He is quite glad to have my assistance at his disposal these days, among other things.

My relationship with the Professor is of a dual nature. Professionally, I am his assitant and apprentice, but in personal matters, I am his intellectual and emotional partner and equal. Many of the other professors condemn this, but the headmaster approves and encourages it. He says that it does much more good for the school than harm and is therefore welcome.

If you wish to know something else, feel free to owl me and ask. I don't promise I will give you any answers, but I will at least read it, and consider posting more information here.
