This racer is inspired by the Mercedes and Auto Union racers
that dominated European racing in the late thirties. Especially Mercedes
was successful, but I decided to base it on the Auto Union Type D. At first
these racers was white, the official German racing color, but soon these
duralminium racers were left unpainted to save weight. This lead to the
nickname "die Silberpfeile" (Silver Arrows).
In the real World the drivers came from Germany, Italy and Britain, but my racer is driven by the fictitious Lothar Graf von Lichtgraurenner. Note that this racer was designed long before the new wheel plate used in the 8375 Ferrari F1 Pit Set and 4755 Knight Bus was available. When I get some of those this MOC might change. |
