Help! Johnny Thunder and the Adventurers are on the trail of the mysterious,
mystical Pharaoh's jewels. But so are treasure hunters Baron von Barron
and Sam Sinister. And the treasure is almost within their grasp! But it
isn't that simple. The jewels are locked in an ancient magical treasure
chest that cannot be opened until six hidden keys are found.
The Adventurers need your help to find the hidden keys and unlock the Treasure
Chest before the Baron does. (After all, such rare artifacts belong in
a museum - not in the Baron's private collection!) The Electronic Treasure
Chest tells you where to find the keys. So get set for adventure as you
embark on a wild chase past the Sphinx and through the Forbidden Ruins
on the race to the Pharaoh's jewels.

Contents:
(1) LEGO Electronic Treasure Chest,
(30) Keys (4 sets of 6 themed Keys,
plus one extra set),
(4) Plastic Key Holders (blue, green,
red, yellow),
(6) Door Hangers (Scorpion's Lair,
Snake Pit, Forbidden Ruins, Baron's Camp, Pharaoh's Tomb and Sphinx), and
(6) Jewel Clusters. |

Object:
Be the first player to find all six
of the hidden Keys needed to unlock the Treasure Chest and save the jewels!
|
|
Setting Up:
The first time you play you will
need to carefully punch out the six Jewel Clusters. Also carefully punch
out the perforated areas on each Door Hanger. Choose (6) different rooms
or areas as "Adventure Areas" by placing a Door Hanger on the doorknob
of each room (or in each area). The Door Hangers indicate which Keys are
to be hidden/found in each "Adventure Area".
Next, choose a person to be the "Key
Hider". The "Key Hider" then hides each set of four matching keys in
the six matching "Adventure Areas".
Note: Players may take turns hiding
the Keys, or may choose a non-player or an adult to hide them. The "Key
Hider" does not participate in finding the keys. If you have only two players,
have each player hides three sets of Keys.
To determine who goes first, put
the four Key Holders in a bag. Players close their eyes, then each player
pulls one from the bag. The player who has the red Key holder goes first,
the yellow one goes second, the blue one goes third and the green one goes
fourth.

Setting Up the Treasure
Chest:
First, have an adult insert 4
"AA" batteries into the bottom of the Electronic Treasure Chest.
Place (6) Jewel Clusters into the
Chest, close the lid and set the chest in a central area.
Just before play, open the Treasure
Chest and flip the small switch on the underside of the Chest lid to the
"on" position. Now the Chest is "powered up" and ready to play.
Note: The Treasure Chest has six
pictures matching the six different Keys that players will be instructed
to find in order to open the Chest. The Treasure Chest tells the Players
which of the keys to find by displaying a lit light over each of
the pictures during game play as new Keys are inserted and removed.
|
|
Game Play:
Beginning with the player who has
the red Key Holder, players, one at a time, insert and remove their empty
Key Holders, groove side up, into the Treasure Chest.
As each player's Key Holder is inserted
and removed, the Chest will play a short tune and flash its lights. Pay
attention to picture below the light that is lit after the short tune has
ended. This light tells each player which Key they must find. (Players
should wait to insert their empty Key Holder until the short tune is finished.)
Note: Players each have 7 seconds
to insert their Key Holder into the Chest. If a player waits too long,
the Chest will not recognize that player's Key Holder and will start the
game without the player.
After all the players have inserted
their Key Holders and know which Keys they must find first, the Treasure
Chest will play a different short tune which signals the start of the race.
At the end of this short tune, all players should race to the Adventure
Areas where their Keys are hidden and find their Keys.

Continuing Play:
As players find their Keys, they
put them into their Key Holders, return to the Treasure Chest, and insert
and remove their Key Holders into it.
If the player has found the correct
Key, the Chest will give a "cheering" sound and flash its lights. The Chest
then signals the next Key to be found by stopping on a light above the
Key picture.
If the player finds an incorrect
Key, the Chest will maker a 'boing" sound and will relight the light that
indicates the Key for which the player should be searching. The player
must then return the incorrect key to its original hiding place and go
on to find the correct Key.
Note: If you hear a "boing" noise
after inserting the correct Key, check to be sure that the Key is properly
placed in the Key Holder and reinsert the Key Holder a second time.
Players should then race to find
their next Keys following the same procedures explained in this section
until one player has located and inserted all six of their required Keys.

Winning:
The first player who finds and inserts
all six Keys in the order indicated by the Treasure Chest is the winner!
When the last correct Key is inserted,
the Treasure Chest announces the winner by playing a victory tune and flashing
its lights. The Treasure Chest can now be opened to reveal the Pharaoh's
jewels!

Treasure Quest Tips:
• If the Treasure Chest lid is opened
before the end of the game, an alarm will sound. If the alarm sounds, simply
shut the lid and resume play.
• Treasure Quest can
be played with more players who can be divided into teams. Each team has
one Key Holder and works to search for the Keys.
• Avoid hiding Keys inside drawers
or cabinets. "Hide" Keys where they can be found quickly for fast and exciting
play.
• Treasure Quest can
be played as an outdoor game, as well. Keys may be hidden on bushes, around
plants, etc. Avoid placing Chest and Keys on moist surfaces, near water
or in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
• The "Key Hider" can also
be the "Keeper-of-the-Chest" by holding onto players' Keys after
they have inserted them into the Treasure Chest.
• If players become confused or forget
which Keys they need to look for next, they can insert their Key Holder
into the Chest and the Chest will re-signal which Key they need to find.
• For special occasions (like parties),
place other prizes in the Chest, like treats, small toys, or candies.
• The Treasure Chest will automatically
shut off after seven minutes of continuous, non-use to prolong battery
life. |
