The West Wing

It's mostly the nerd in me, but I really like this political drama. In part because it makes you feel like you'd love to work in the White House. Well, in Jed Bartlett's White House anyway.

While it's clearly a Democratic administration, the "opposition" isn't kneejerkingly evil (like Ainsley Hayes, a character I'd like to see more often). The nice underlying message is that it's not supposed to be about politics, but it always is keeps it from getting sappy.

The witty banter (to use an overused description) is often hilarious. It's nice to see a smart drama on television, especially network TV. And like any good show, the good duys aren't always right and they don't always win, but you can't fault them for trying.

And Allison Janney's awesome Press Secretary C.J. Cregg went to Berkeley. Isn't that reason enough to watch?
