My Fencing Journal

Day 3

Day: 3 Thursday 11.08.01
Status: Beginner - 3rd Lesson (Same as before)
Learned: How it feels to lose. Never loss this badly before.
Practice: Simon wasn't there today because he had to get stitches on his hand (he cut himself when he was making a sandwich). His mentor was there, but I didn't speak to him. It was the mentor's seventieth bay and the Davis Fencing Academy's Second Anniversary. Aksone didn't even suit-up today because she said her leg hurt. We didn't really practice today. All we did was footwork and fence one an other. The sent along okay. I did it nice and slow, so I wouldn't mess up as much. Though I still made a lot of mistakes. I'm just too use to using my back leg and knee to spring up when I hop. I'm suppose to hop with my front (right) foot going up first not my back.

Fenced: I fenced three people, which of course all beat me easily. Scores: 2-5,1-5,4-5. The first bout was with a girl and the other two were with guys. It wasn't that much fun today since I didn't learn anything new.

Thoughts: I guess I shouldn't feel too bad because the people I fenced were about my age, but they have had a few months more experience. Right now what I need to improve upon is my lunges (I need to lunge further), hop (front leg first), keeping my back straight, and footwork. That was basically everything I've learned so far. Fencing is becoming a real challenge for me.
