Ten: The Escape (13 Nov 03) - Rose ties Kit up and Adrian calls for
a helicopter to take them away. Tom's murkrow friends distract Rose and
Adrian by swooping at them, and Kit manages to break free. Tom cuts her
rope and she releases the captures pokémon from the
pokéballs. When she finds Cam, one of the murkrows carries him
back to the rangers' cabin. Adrian sends out Poochyena to attack Kit,
but just as she's about to make her attack, a group of caterpies,
weedles and wurmples appear and use String Shot on Poochyena. They then
restrain Leon, Rose and Adrian as well, and Kit and Tom are able to
escape. Kit realises that Cam's colour and mood are back to normal, and
he explains that his Colour Change ability has side effects which
change his mood. He didn't want to tell her about it earlier because he
was afraid of becoming an outcast. Kit realises how much she has in
common with Cam. She then takes him home with her, and is sitting on
her balcony with him with Taylor appears and annoys her as usual. He
claims that he understands pokémon better than her because he
lives on a farm so he interacts with them more. This annoys Kit, but
she decides that it's best not to reveal too much about her secret to
Taylor. Chapter Eleven: Confusion
(13 Dec 03) - Kit takes Cam back home to the Genesis Bushland. Cam
decides to take Kit to see Eustacia, saying that since Kit is a
pokémon as well as a human, she shouldn't be excluded from
Eustacia's garden. Kit, however, starts to get suspicious of Eustacia,
wondering how she could have known that Team Magma would be a threat to
her. On the way to see Eustacia, Kit and Cam come across some nincadas,
ninjasks and shedinjas, who get the wrong impression of Kit and attack
her. The shedinjas chase after Kit and Cam and use Confuse Ray on them.
Cam thinks he is leading Kit to Eustacia's garden but instead they end
up in Taylor's farm. Taylor defeats the shedinjas with a rapidash, and
Kit is annoyed that she had to be saved by Taylor. Taylor's espeon then
appears, and Kit is shocked to see how friendly Taylor is towards her.
The espeon notices something unusual about Kit, and says so to Taylor.
This annoys Kit, and she yells at the espeon, forgetting to hide her
secret of being unable to understand pokémon speech. Taylor
seems confused as to why Kit is yelling at his espeon, and Kit gets
embarrassed and storms off. Chapter Twelve: Trouble Returns
(23 Dec 03) - Cam follows Taylor to Spectrum High School, where he
meets up with Kit again. He tells her that Eustacia has taught
him some things about the human language so he's starting to understand
it a bit more. He asks her again to go with him to see Eustacia,
and she agrees. However, once they make it to the Extant Cave,
Poochyena shows up. Team Magma has tracked Kit down and is more
determined than ever to catch her. Kit and Cam try to run from
Poochyena, but only run into Leon, who taunts and argues with
them. He gets angry at Cam and shoots an Ember attack at him, but
Kit intercepts the attack. The fire triggers her transformation,
and she becomes a vulpix again. Chapter Thirteen: A Shock Saviour
(17 Jan 04) - Kit tries to battle Leon, but finds herself only dodging
attacks instead of actually fighting. Poochyena brings Adrian,
Rose and Numel to the battle scene and then tries to fight off Cam
while Leon handles Kit. Still afraid of Cam colour changing, Kit
tries to defend Cam. Poochyena then tries to attack Kit, but Kit
dodges. Leon decides that he should handle Kit, but before he can
attack, a ninetales appears. The ninetales taunts Leon into
battling him and tells Kit and Cam to escape. Kit is reluctant
because she wants to talk to the ninetales and find out where all the
other vulpixes and ninetales lives, but in the end realises that it's
more important to escape. She and Cam flee to a small cave.
The ninetales later shows up and talks to them. He introduces
himself as Russell. Much to Kit's disappointment, he says that he
doesn't know of any other vulpixes or ninetales either, and that he
doesn't even know what happened to his family. Before Kit can get
much information out of Russell, she feels herself turning back into a
human. Afraid of how Russell will react to this, she runs away to
stop him from seeing it. Cam follows her, and they agree to go
and see Eustacia the following day. Chapter Fourteen: Out of Hiding
(26 Jan 04) - On her way to meet Cam in the Genesis Bushland, Kit runs
into Taylor. The two argue as usual, and Taylor tells her that
they're very different people because he saved her and Cam, whereas she
would never save him. He then leaves, and Kit continues into the
Genesis Bushland. As she heads towards the Extant Cave, she
thinks about why wild pokémon are afraid of humans, and thinks
that it must be because they've heard bad stories about trainers.
She begins to hear noises in the bushes behind her, and feels like
she's being watched, but she continues on. When the noises in the
bushes continue, she starts to get worried, and wishes that she had Cam
with her. She starts to feel weak, realising that the only times
she's managed to escape Team Magma were with the help of Tom and
Russell. Finally she hears a yelp, and recognises it as Russell's
voice. She finds him in the bushes caught in a man-made
trap. She releases him, and he tries to run away from her.
However, the trap has left him wounded and he soon collapses. Kit
rushes over to him, but before she can figure out how to help him, his
body begins to change shape and before her eyes, he turns into a human
. . . Taylor. Chapter Fifteen: One of My Own Kind
(04 Feb 04) - Kit starts freaking out about Russell being Taylor.
He tells her that he knew she was the vulpix he met and was waiting to
see how long it would take her to figure out that he was Russell.
Kit gets annoyed with him for telling her his name was Russell, but he
reminds her that Russell actually is his name (Taylor is his
surname). The two talk a bit, and Kit realises that Taylor sees
himself as a pokémon just as much as a human. He also
tells her that he has always been able to become a ninetales. Kit
tries to tell him about the first time she became a vulpix, but as soon
as he hears that she saw Ho-Oh and Lugia, he doesn't care about her
transformation anymore. He tells her that Ho-Oh and Lugia are Sun
and Moon from the legend that Kit heard on camp, and that since Lugia
has defeated Ho-Oh, Moon is going to take control of the world and it
will be night forever. Kit refuses to believe in the legend, but
acknowledges that Lugia may be a threat. She then asks Taylor to
go with her and Cam to see Eustacia, and he agrees. Chapter Sixteen: Humans in the
Garden (18 Feb 04) - Kit and Taylor meet up with Cam, and
explain about Taylor being Russell the ninetales. The three of
them then go to see Eustacia, though it takes some convincing before
Dale lets Taylor in. When they reach Eustacia, Kit confronts her
with her theory about Eustacia working with Team Magma. Eustacia
is shocked that Kit would think a thing like that, and tries to explain
why she thought Team Magma would be after her. Team Magma has
apparently discovered the vulpix legend of human creation. This
legend is basically that a vulpix and ninetales discovered the Sacred
Ash which turned them into humans. Kit wonders if the Sacred Ash
has anything to do with Ho-Oh's ashes, and Taylor notices the links
between the vulpix legend and the Sun/Moon legend. Eustacia tells
Kit and Taylor that they should visit the wild vulpix pack to find out
more about the legend, but unfortunately no one knows where it
is. Taylor decides to go and speak to his grandmother (who is a
retired pokémon researcher), and Kit agrees to go with him. Chapter Seventeen: A New Purpose
(10 Mar 04) - Kit and Taylor go to see Taylor's grandmother. They
speak to her about the transformations, and about Lugia and
Ho-Oh. Mrs Taylor says that in order to stop Lugia, they will
need the help of Moltres and Entei, Ho-Oh's greatest followers.
Kit is also introduced to Elsie, the epseon who she saw at Taylor's
farm previously. Kit, Taylor, Elsie and Mrs Taylor all agree to
find out what they can about Moltres and Entei so that they can track
them down. Later, Kit gets a call from Taylor telling her that
there's a vulpix at his farm. She goes there to meet it, but is
shocked to discover that the eggs in the combusken coop have all been
smashed, and a man is threatening Taylor and holding a gun. Kit
spots a vulpix cowering behind Taylor and realises that Taylor is
defending the vulpix from the man, who declares that the pokémon
needs to die. Chapter Eighteen: The Vulpix Prince
(01 Apr 04) - Kit and Taylor try to convince the man (who turns out to
be Taylor's father) not to hurt the vulpix. He is unimpressed by
their efforts and threatens to shoot the vulpix in front of their
eyes. Kit gets so mad that she feels herself ready to transform
into a pokémon. Taylor realises this, and grabs the wild
vulpix and tells Kit to run. They flee to the Genesis
Bushland. Kit transforms into a vulpix, then Taylor into a
ninetales, and the wild vulpix (Taggy) is amazed, claiming that they
must be "Spiritfox and Soulfire". Elsie then appears, asking if
Taylor is hurt. Taggy takes the three of them to see Connor, the
vulpix prince, who has been injured. When they meet him, they see
that he is a white vulpix. Taylor carries him to Eustacia's
garden, where the chansey heals him. Once he is better, Kit and
Taylor introduce themselves to him. Connor is surprised at their
names and says that Kit and Taylor were members of his pack who
disappeared. He decides that they should go with him to see his
pack. Chapter Nineteen: Spiritfox and Soulfire (14 May 04) - Connor takes Kit, Taylor, Elsie and Cam to see his pack. When they get there, two ninetales couples rush out to meet Kit and Taylor, claiming that they're their long-lost children (who were also called Kit and Taylor). The ninetales explain that the Kit and Taylor of the vulpix pack disappeared when they were little. Connor then tells the legend of Spiritfox and Soulfire, a ninetales and vulpix who became human. Spiritfox and Soulfire are seen as heroes among the young vulpixes, but the legend actually portrays them as quite villainous, blaming them for the destruction that humans have caused to pokémon's homes. Before Kit and Taylor get to learn much more about Spiritfox and Soulfire, a trapinch and a croconaw enter the vulpix den and threaten to capture the wild pokémon. Taylor, Elsie and Kit rush out to try to fight them off, but Taylor tells Kit that she'll only get in the way. |
