Brouage

It was just a bit of a detour, but we did get to Brouage. It was quite moving. To be in the same church where Champlain prayed before he left for "La Nouvelle-France", to settled in this new country, was very eery, monument Champlain
Even Pierre who is not as interested by history as I am, found this little village fascinating. I took quite a few pictures, for posterity as it were. Again we are there between twelve and two, and the place appears deserted. église

Heading out to our next destination, we saw many hunters and dogs. What could they be hunting?? There is, as far as I know, no game in France. Although we did see a road sign for wild boar. Unfortunately we were driving to fast to stop and take a picture.
The next morning we head out to visit one or two châteaux...Usse: Sleeping Beauy's castle among them... We arrive moments after twelve (again) and the place is closed! I can't figure out this French logic! Neither can the other tourists, from the Netherlands, Italy, and as far away as Australia. Oh well!.. Tomorrow: Bourges Belle au Bois Dormant
