It was just a bit of a detour, but we did get to Brouage. It was quite moving. To be in the same church where Champlain prayed before he left for "La Nouvelle-France", to settled in this new country, was very eery, | ![]() |

Even Pierre who is not as interested by history as I am, found this little village fascinating. I took quite a few pictures, for posterity as it were. Again we are there between twelve and two, and the place appears deserted. | ![]() |

Heading out to our next destination, we saw many hunters and dogs. What could they be hunting?? There is, as far as I know, no game in France. Although we did see a road sign for wild boar. Unfortunately we were driving to fast to stop and take a picture. | ||
The next morning we head out to visit one or two châteaux...Usse: Sleeping Beauy's castle among them... We arrive moments after twelve (again) and the place is closed! I can't figure out this French logic! Neither can the other tourists, from the Netherlands, Italy, and as far away as Australia. Oh well!.. Tomorrow: Bourges | ![]() |
