Cognac is a very interesting town. We visited a few distilleries, discovered how cognac is actually made, sampled cognac, and met wonderful new friends.. | ![]() |
Breakfast time provided us with great conversation, about each other's countries: Spain, Great Britain, the Philipines, Canada, in French, English and Spanish. We talked about Cognac, good food, golf, internet, and ... ghosts... | ![]() |
Apparently, our house is haunted. Pierre of course is hoping to see a ghost, and I was awake most of the night, hoping not to see it. Fortunately, I won. | ![]() |
After a day full of exploring, we settled into the dining room, had a great meal, with Monsieur M. serving us cognac from his personal reserve to top off the meal. | ![]() |
The next day, before we depart, Madame M. strongly suggests we visit Brouage, home of Samuel de Champlain, one of the first Canadian settlers. It seems all the Canadians who come to this part of France visit Brouage, and we must also. On our way there, we stop for an hour in a little town called Saintes, where we discover this roman arena, buitl in 40 A.D. |
