Bev, John and I started at 105 Walthen Drive and biked to meet the rest of the group at Sporting Intentions on North River Road. Here we are in the pre-adventure team photo shoot. |
I was pleased to learn that we'd be taking frequent breaks, in an effort to keep us all together and on track. This was our first such stop en route to the Confederation Bridge (a pretty tough route). | ![]() |

AKA the "Wine Tour", our first winery was Baie Verte in New Brunswick. In this shot, Rob and John are checking out the map as I look on, just outside of the winery. |
During those four days we ate like Kings. Denise doesn't feed me nearly that well at home, let alone in a campsite! For dinners we had shrimp with rice, spaghetti and fajitas. They were all delicious, but I think the spaghetti may have been the best. | ![]() |

Bev was pretty excited about her new tent. This was its first real use and it proved to be an excellent purchase. Besides looking cool, it is very functional, complete with ventilation system and overhead pocket for storing items like your flashlight and alarm clock. |
Dinner time on night one. | ![]() |

An accomplished John, after a hard day of cycling. |
Day one of the tour was not only Canada Day, but also Dave's birthday! The gals working at the park were the best and they brought him a celebratory brownie (or some sort of baked good...). Naturally, he put the container on his head as a party hat. | ![]() |

Group shot aboard the (noisy) park vehicle. You should have heard that thing go.... |
This is Bev's bike loaded down with gear. I've learned it's one thing to go biking, just you, your bike and the open road. It's an entirely different scenario when you load up with 25lbs of extra gear. | ![]() |

We managed to squeeze in a little celebrity sight-seeing during day two. This is the home of the one and only Anne Murray. I like to think we saw her looking out through one of the windows, but in reality, it could have been anyone. |
Another rest stop. | ![]() |

I can't quite remember now what John was doing at this point. It could be one of any number of things really... re-applying sunscreen, swatting flies, it could be an expression of exhaustion (but I doubt it!) |
This was taken during our lunch break on day two. We made sandwiches on rye. | ![]() |

I was hearing about this dreaded "Jost Hill" since day one of our trip. When it finally arrived, I was psyched up for Mount Everest, so it didn't seem too bad - although long... very long.... Clearly, athlete extrordinaire Rob didn't have a problem. |
Proof - I made it to the top of Jost Hill. | ![]() |

Graeme was the favourite on our last night of camping - he surprised us with DQ cake! What a guy :-) |
Note: ice cream cake goes deliciously well with wine. | ![]() |

This was our final night of camping and, although the Park staff were less than stellar, it was perhaps our best, most relaxed night. Maybe that was just me, knowing there was only another 60km left... |
