Skyline: Lights go on in the skyscrapers.Plot: The Cranes are in a taxi getting a lift home after Frasier's BMW breaks down. Suddenly their driver, Arleen, goes into labour and the Cranes witness the whole thing as first Niles, then Frasier, and then finally Martin helps out with the delivery of baby Nathan. All this makes Niles wonder - should he have a child? He starts worrying about his and Maris' biological clocks, and whether he would be able to cope being a father. After Martin says that raising a child is hard work, Frasier suggests that Niles carry a bag of flour around for a week treating it as if it were a child. Poor Niles however has one mishap after another with his "child", managing to skewer, drop, bang, drown and burn it before it finally gets eaten by Eddie. Meanwhile a security guard at KACL, Clarence, is in hospital for a kidney transplant. Thinking it was a birthday card, Frasier put some remark about getting nearer to death in it. With Daphne's help, he sneaks into Clarence's room, steals the card and copies all the signatures into a new, identical card. Niles accompanies Frasier to the hospital and watches the newborn babies. Subtitles: Special Delivery; Flour Child; No Guts No Glory. It's Maris!!!: Frasier reads the label on the flour. "Bleached, 100% fat free, best kept in an airtight container." He says it tends to take after its mother. Niles wonders whether Maris should have her eggs frozen. Of course there is no need for this!!! Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Mentions of Lilith and Frederick, as Frasier remembers Frederick's birth. Trivia: Mention of Maris' houseman Nguy, whose name Frasier can never pronounce. The number on Arlene's taxicab, 804, is the same number used by Alex (Judd Hirsch) in Taxi - a show also directed by James Burrows, who directs this episode. |
