Skyline: Fireworks explode over the skyline.

Plot: Niles arrives at KACL studios with good news. The Empire Club, one of Seattle's most exclusive establishments, has got an opening - and Niles is going to apply for it. Frasier is at first jealous, but then hears another opening is available - one of the members has been involved in a scandal. So he too applies for it.

At the club, things go well - until Frasier hears that the charges have been dropped and there is once again only one opening. The Drs Crane begin to fight dirty for it, with Frasier mentioning the time Niles was arrested for mooning Nixon, and Niles mention the time Frasier tried to kill himself after Lilith left him.

Next morning at Café Nervosa, Frasier hears that he's in. He says how sorry he is for Niles, and Niles leaves. Frasier jumps for joy and offers to buy everyone a coffee - just as Niles walks back in. Racked with guilt now, Frasier goes to the club and tells them to give his place to Niles. When Martin tells Niles what Frasier is doing, Niles is horrifed that his big brother is sorting things out for him and rushes down to stop him. But there has been a terrible mix-up, with a big surprise for both the Crane brothers.....

Subtitles: The Crane Scrutiny; He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother.

It's Maris!!!.: Maris is still in the Mercedes practising her "vivacious giggle". Later Maris tries to sabotage the wives of the other candidates by swamping them in hors d'oeuvre.

Roz loves..... Walter Strickland Sr, an important person in Frasier's wine club.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Niles, trying to gain entry to the club instead of Frasier, tells the members about the time Frasier threatened to commit suicide in Boston if Lilith left him (in the Cheers episode "The Girl In The Plastic Bubble").

Trivia: This is the last episode written by Elias David and David Pollock. We discover Niles once mooned President Nixon, and Daphne calls Frasier by his name rather than "Dr Crane" - she fills in for his absent date at the club, much to Niles' envy!
