Skyline: A helicopter appears over the city.

Plot: Niles had got tickets to the races but doesn't want to go, so he gives the tickets to Frasier. Martin is playing poker with his friends, so he can't go, and so Frasier decides to call a friend. Trouble is, most of them live back in Boston…..

Worried, Frasier devotes the next edition of his show to friendships and invites his listeners to make friends, both with each other and him. The show does not go well though, as most of the people who call in are total nutcases - such as Gerard, who offers to comb Frasier's hair! After the show Frasier gets a load of faxes from callers. Most of them seem to also be from nutcases, but Frasier spots one from someone called Bob who seems like a decent enough fellow. Frasier arranges to meet Bob at Café Nervosa.

They seem to get on well, and arrange to meet for dinner. However Frasier discovers two things about Bob - he's disabled and in a wheelchair and he is so boring. Frasier doesn't really want to see him any more, but is scared to say so to Bob in case Bob thinks it's due to the wheelchair. And then he hears that Bob is thinking of moving into the Elliot Bay Towers - they will be neighbours forever…..

Meanwhile, a jealous Niles also tries making friends, and invites his pool cleaner Ralph out to get to know him better. And Daphne is - once again - trying to get Martin to eat healthily.

Subtitles: Maybe Just A Shampoo And Set; Butane And The Beast; The Squeaky Wheel Gives The Grief.

It's Maris!!!: "Diminutive, underweight figures in expensive silks, wielding riding crops" - Niles' reasons for not wanting to go to the races. They remind him of Maris.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Frasier realises most of his friends live in Boston.

Trivia: This is the first episode written by Jack Burditt. Griffin Dune (Bob) voiced the caller Russell in Ep 1 "The Good Son". Oh, and we also learn Niles' age in this episode - he is 38, placing his year of birth as 1957 (assuming Niles has not had a birthday between January 1st 1996 and the date of this episode!).
