Skyline: A hot air balloon passes over the skyline.

Plot: Joe has spent the night with Daphne, and she is horrified. Not because she hates Joe, but because Frasier will be furious if he finds out. They try to sneak out but are discovered at the door. Plus Eddie has Joe's underpants in his mouth.

Frasier is adamant that Daphne not have sex under his roof, and she wonders if she should move out. Frasier doesn't want that, but she doesn't think she has any choice.

That weekend she and Joe go away together, and Frasier and Martin are left alone. They begin quarrelling over silly little things such as dry or damp dishcloths, and realise that Daphne is what keeps them from wanting to kill each other. When she comes home, both Frasier and Martin are very relieved, and things start to get back to normal.

Meanwhile Niles is sad because he has not been invited to the Hoe-down for the Homeless. He thinks he has been neglected by his high society peers, but is later convinced his invitations had merely gotten lost in the post. Martin has put on weight, but says his trousers have shrunk. Frasier tries to get them to stop denying things to themselves, but then later, after Daphne tells him Joe can't have sex with her because of a "war injury", Frasier happily pretends nothing is going on and he stops feeling uncomfortable about Daphne and Joe.

Subtitles: They're Playing Do-Si-Do, But Not For Me; He Cried With His Boots On.

Trivia: This is the final episode written by Steven Levitan. Final appearance of Joe (although he is mentioned later on in the season). Martin also sings a bit of "She's Such A Groovy Lady" (from Ep 51 "Martin Does It His Way").
