Skyline: The light at the top of the Space Needle flashes.

Plot: Frasier Crane has left his wife Lilith and son Frederick after he found out she was having an affair and has moved back to his hometown of Seattle. He has a job hosting a radio psychiatrist at KACL 780AM with producer Roz and has his own stylish apartment.

However he meets his brother Niles, who tells him that his father Martin has been shot in the leg and can no longer look after himself. Frasier reluctantly agrees to let Martin move in with him, as a home is "too drastic an option" and Martin does not get on well with Niles' wife Maris, meaning he can't live there. Frasier hires Daphne, a British home care worker, to help out.

However Frasier and Martin do not see eye to eye, especially after Martin brings Eddie and his chair to Frasier's apartment.

Subtitles: The Job; The Brother; The Father; Eddie; The Home Care Specialist; Lupe Velez.

It's Maris!!!: Frasier compares his sister in law to the Sun - he likes her "from a distance. Maris is like the Sun, Except without the warmth."

Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Mentions of Lilith and Frederick as Frasier remembers Boston, Cheers and the life he left behind there.

Trivia: Pilot episode, therefore first appearance of Frasier, Niles Martin, Daphne, Roz and Eddie. Griffin Dune (Russell) also played Bob in Ep 59 "The Friend". Linda Hamilton (Claire) also played Laura in Ep 95 "Odd Man Out". Mentions of Hester Crane, "Chopper" Dave and Yoshi, Maris' gardener.
