Plot: Frasier is attending a convention and asks Niles to fill in for him at KACL. Niles is reluctant at first, but Frasier soon convinces him (See It's Maris!!!).

After Niles' first show, Bulldog starts preparing for his show. His guest today is Sonics star Reggie Maclemore. Reggie's game has been down recently, and Bulldog wonders whether Niles can help him. Niles tries his best, and Reggie ruffles Niles' hair as Niles cannot do the sportsman's handshake.

That night, the team wins, and Reggie is the star player. Live on TV, he thanks Niles for his help. Niles is treated like a hero by Martin and everyone at KACL, and Reggie sends him free tickets. Niles, Daphne and Martin go to the game.

Reggie's game is down again, and Niles tries to help, but to no avail. Reggie touches Niles' hair again and goes on to win, and Niles realises that just by touching his hair, Reggie's confidence is boosted. Should Niles carry on like this and let the Sonics win, or should he go and talk with Reggie?

Subtitles: Stranger In A Strange Land; Hoopla; Ay, There's The Rub.

It's Maris!!!.....Frasier's Bree-ze: Years ago, Frasier agreed to go out with Maris' sister Bree, who only has one nostril, if Niles did something in return. Hence the radio deal.....

Trivia: This role should have been written for Frasier, but Kelsey Grammer wasn't available as he was being treated for his addiction problems. So Niles stepped in. Mentions of Joe, as he and Daphne are off to the movies, and KACL's Helen Grogan of Ma Nature who will fill in for Frasier if Niles doesn't. Niles doesn't understand what his father is yelling at the players (things such as "Right on the hardwood!!!", so Daphne explains it to him as if it were an orchestra!!! ("Front row, stage right.").The subtitle "Ay, There's The Rub" occurs again in Ep 156 "Big Crane on Campus", except there it's "Ah," not "Ay".
