Plot: Frasier finds out that Martin's girlfriend Maureen is going to break up with him. Niles finds out that he's won an award and will have to attend together with his family. The brothers are worried about their father - he'll undoubtedly be upset about the break-up and will be offended if Niles doesn't bring him to the award - plus it's his birthday this weekend.

Later Maureen leaves the apartment - she has something on her mind. Frasier tries to comfort his father - then realises she hasn't broken up with him yet. But Martin is pleased - he's met someone else. Martin pretends to be upset when Maureen returns and breaks up with him.

On Martin's birthday, he invites his new ladyfriend Sherry over to meet Daphne and the boys. She's loud, brassy, wears lots of make up and bright clothes. The boys pretend to like her so as not to hurt Martin's feelings.

The boys are horrified when they hear that Daphne is sick and Sherry will be coming to the awards instead. They decide to tell their father they don't want her there, but unfortunately for Frasier Niles has chickened out...
