Plot: Frasier has gone alone to a restaurant. It's Roz's birthday and he'd booked them a table, but she already had a date. And so has everybody else - Martin with Sherry, Daphne with Greg and Niles with Maris (they're recreating their first date). A woman, Laura, leaves a message on Frasier's machine - it's a wrong number, but Frasier likes the sound of her voice.
Frasier realises how lonely he is at the restaurant, and when he comes back Laura has again left a message on his machine. She needs to be picked up from the airport, and so Frasier goes to see her. It turns out she's already taken, but Frasier meets up with another woman who says she's going to Acapulco. So Frasier, on an impulse, goes too to see if he'll meet the woman of his dreams.....
Subtitles: On The Plus Side She Did Lose Two Pounds; Love Among The Ruins.
It's Maris!!!.....First Date: Niles and Maris are recreating their first date. They've borrowed Martin's car and when they return Marta fires meatballs from a gun at them!!! Maris' late father did this, but with bullets, during their real first date.
It's Maris!!!..... Bad Boy: After touching vinyl for the first time, Maris felt cheap and dirty, and liked it!!! Niles was her first "bad boy".
Roz loves..... the waiter she had to date because she didn't have enough money for a tip!!! (Could this be
Rick, the father of Roz's daughter Alice?)Trivia: Mentions of
Sherry and Hester Crane - if Frasier had been a girl he'd have been called Laura (Hester wanted Priscilla). Joanne is the woman Frasier meets at the airport, although she isn't named until next episode when she appears again. The series' first cliff-hanger - what will Frasier do in Acapulco? And again the end credits have a "Thanks For Calling" (see Ep 48 "Dark Victory"). Linda Hamilton (Laura) also voiced guest caller Claire back in Ep 1 "The Good Son".Read the script of this episode at
