Plot: It's Valentine's Day and Frasier and Niles are due to go to the opera. However Niles pulls out at the last minute as Mel has decided not to go to her medical conference and so Frasier asks Martin to go with him. There's a reason for this - Frasier has fallen for a woman, Emily, at the opera. If he goes alone, he'll seem desperate, and if he goes with a woman, Emily won't be interested.

During the interval, Frasier says hello to Emily and her mother Helen. Helen is attracted to Martin but he doesn't feel the same way. To say no might insult her and ruin Frasier's chances with Emily, so Martin says he's gay.

Later on Helen comes to Frasier's apartment for their date - together with her uncle Edward, who she wants to set up with Martin!!! After quickly explaining to Frasier what he said to Helen, Martin has to play along for just one night. But when Edward wants to go out with Martin, Martin quickly introduces him to his new boyfriend - Niles!!!

Subtitles: Out With Dad.

Roz loves..... The guy who cancelled their date.

Trivia: Mentions of Mel and Donny. Roz and Daphne are at home watching sad romantic movies. Frasier mentions seeing an opera by Mathilde DeCagney - in real life she is of course the trainer of Moose, who plays Eddie.
