Skyline: A monorail is seen travelling across the city.Plot: Frasier is receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the SeaBees. Gil has also been nominated for Best Restaurant Critic. Hours before the awards, Frasier receives a bunch of flowers from his old mentor at Harvard, Dr Tewkesbury. Frasier decides to go and see him, and the two end up evaluating everything the other says. Frasier starts to question his life, and Dr Tewkesbury becomes the psychiatrist with Frasier the patient. Everyone else is waiting for Frasier at the awards, and Gil learns that he hasn't won the award - his two opponents, Sheldon Hastings and Merrill George, are sharing it between them. Kenny is waiting for Frasier and is very nervous - Kenny has to give Frasier's introduction and present the awards. Martin however is constantly praising Niles in case he gets jealous of Frasier's award - much to Niles' annoyance. Frasier is, according to Dr Tewkesbury, distancing himself from his problems. We learn that his mum influenced his choice into becoming a psychiatrist and this made him distance himself. Dr Tewkesbury says that Frasier is, deep down, still a very insecure and frightened child. Of course Frasier says that's nonsense, but what is really the matter with him? Meanwhile Daphne has gained weight, and everyone has noticed - except her and Niles..... Subtitles: He Wore His First Smoking Jacket At 12. Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Mentions of Lilith and Frederick. Trivia: First appearance of Dr Tewkesbury, and mentions of Hester Crane and Gil's wife Deb. She hosts the alternative awards, the Chestertons, if Gil doesn't win anything at the Seabees. Neil Simon (Andy) used to be married to Marsha Mason, who played Martin's girlfriend Sherry Dempsey in Seasons 4 and 5. |
