Skyline: A shooting star passes over the skyline.

Plot: Frasier and Roz are at Café Nervosa. Frasier has just bought a sweater and can't decide whether to wear it or not to his "speed date" (where you talk to a person for 8 mins and then move onto the next person) that evening. We then see two versions of Frasier's life depending on whether he does decide to go with the sweater or not, and we keep interchanging between the two stories.

Version 1: Frasier decides to go with the suit. As he stands up to leave, he bumps into Mike, a new employee at KACL who Roz takes a shine to. Afterwards he bumps into Monica, an artist at the Café, and falls over, spraining his arm. Monica takes him to the hospital, and he decides to go out with her instead of the speed dates. Frasier comes home, feeling pleased with himself, and Martin goes to McGinty's to get away from him. Daphne arrives with the ingredients for her romantic dinner with Niles and Frasier calls Monica to arrange another date. At Café Nervosa next day, Monica tells Frasier he doesn't have to keep sending him flowers and poems, but he likes doing it (keeping up with Niles and Daphne!!!). Frasier and Roz find out they, and their dates, are going to the Heart Association Benefit that night. That evening, Frasier is ready to go, but Niles and Daphne are having an argument - it turns out Daphne put something in her dinner that Niles is allergic to and he is covered with rashes. They make up later after Niles tells her about a romantic holiday he's booked for them. At the dinner, Frasier decides to show Monica how much she means to him by singing a song for her, but this is the last straw for Monica - she doesn't like all this attention and breaks up with him. When Frasier leaves, she sees Mike and they take a shine to each other. In the car on the way home, Fraser hears a repeat of his show and a caller, Rachel says she fancies him. Frasier decides to go and see Rachel and drives off.

Version 2: Frasier decides to go with the sweater. This causes him not to get up, and Mike and Monica bump into each other instead (and thus start dating). At the speed date, Frasier is talking to Judy, a woman who likes pirates and is a bit weird. Frasier goes home and starts moping around, so Martin goes to McGinty's to get away from him. Daphne arrives with the ingredients for her romantic dinner with Niles and find out she has to change the recipe slightly due to Niles' allergies. Frasier receives a call from Roz - she and her boyfriend Robert are going to the Heart Association Benefit that night and think Frasier would get on well with Robert's sister. Frasier refuses to go at first, but after seeing Niles and Daphne acting like love struck teenagers decides to go. At the dinner, Frasier finds out Robert's sister is Judy, the pirate woman, and is distraught. He sees Mike and Monica kissing and is jealous. Later he leaves after another disastrous evening. In the car on the way home, Fraser hears a repeat of his show and a caller, Rachel says she fancies him. Frasier decides to go and see Rachel and drives off.

Subtitles: This Gets Tricky, So Pay Attention; Two Roads Diverged... And I Took Them Both; The Most Magical Night Of The Year.

Roz loves..... Mike (in the universe where Frasier goes with the suit), and Robert (in the universe where Frasier goes with the sweater).

Trivia: Mention of McGinty's. Niles and Daphne spend their first Valentine's Day together. And the two stories converge again at the end. Michael G Hawkins (Emcee) also played Santa in Ep 57 "Frasier Grinch" and the conductor in Ep 61 "Moon Dance".
