Skyline: Party balloons float up from behind the skyscrapers.Plot: Maris has gone on a cruise with Pearson Broadwater and Niles is upset. He is worried that his old world is moving on without him. As Frasier is in Boston visiting Frederick, Niles turns to Martin for advise. Martin suggests Niles also gets a date, and eventually Niles decides to go the Snow Ball (his club's winter ball) with a date, Majorie Nash. Then he realises she will want to dance, and he can't dance..... Daphne offers to teach him to dance, and Niles soon gets the hang of it. His date phones up to cancel but Niles doesn't tell Daphne - he likes dancing with her too much. Martin says he should tell her and relucantly, he does. But then Daphne offers to go instead. Niles is delighted with this and happily agrees, even though Martin warns him against it. Frasier returns and doesn't listen to anybody - he's still on holiday. Daphne hears a knock at the door and there is Niles, ready to take her out. They leave, and poor Frasier is very confused - but Martin won't tell him as he's still on holiday!!! At the dance, Niles and Daphne enjoy themselves. They gradually whip up a storm on the dance floor, and their dancing becomes more exciting and passionate. When Daphne tells him to let it all out, he tells her he adores her. Niles is horrified at what he just said - will things be the same between them afterwards? But Daphne says the same back. But does she love him, or just adore him as a friend.....? Subtitles: He Was A Band Leader Married To Charo; Where Else Would Coroners Get Together? It's Maris!!!: Maris doesn't like going anywhere alone - except bed. She also didn't learn to dance because she dislikes "public displays of rhythm". Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Mention of Frederick Trivia: First episode with the party balloons skyline. Mentions of Marta and Hester Crane - we learn she and Martin were separated for a while (due to her affair with Stan Lawlor in Ep 8?). Daphne also mentions her brother Billy, the ballroom dancer. This episode also has the most writers (8) and was the first to be directed by Kelsey Grammer (which explains why Frasier does not appear that much in this episode). Michael G Hawkins also played Santa in Ep 57 "Frasier Grinch", the emcee in Ep 177 "Sliding Frasiers", and the bandleader in Ep 244 "SeaBea Jeebies". |
