Skyline: Lights go on in the skyscrapers.Plot: It's the day after the previous episode, and Niles and Daphne decide to have Frasier and Martin over for dinner that night to announce the pregnancy. Frasier arrives and tells Niles about how his relationship with Julia is over, and Niles says he has a fear of commitment. Frasier decides to "commit to commitment" and gives Julia a call. Julia arrives at Frasier's apartment that afternoon and asks Frasier if their relationship would go anywhere if they got together. Frasier says he's committing to commitment and he and Julia make up in bed. :-) Niles and Daphne's oven has broken so they host the dinner party at Frasier's, leaving a message for him to tell him about the change. Frasier of course is unaware of this and phones Niles to cancel the dinner because he wants to spend time with Julia. Of course the brothers discover each other's existence in the apartment and as such, Julia is also invited to the dinner. However she manages to insult every member of the family by telling Martin the results of a Mariners game he'd taped, and telling Frasier and Martin about the pregnancy after overhearing Niles and Daphne talk about it. When she makes a snide comment about Frasier's new Italian Frette hand towels, that's enough for Frasier, who decides his "committing to commitment" won't work with Julia, and he orders her out of the house. After she has gone, the Cranes toast the pregnancy and the happy couple. Subtitles: The Bastie Boys; After The Bile Is Over. Trivia: Roz does not appear in this episode, as Peri Gilpin was doing a play at the time and as such was written out of the show for two episodes (this one and Ep 244 "The Babysitter". This is the first time since Jane Leeves took maternity leave back in Season 8 that all 5 main characters have not appeared. Final appearance of Julia, and when talking about Frasier's past relationships Niles mentions Faye Moskowitz, Cassandra Stone, Lana Lynley and a few others, all of who have appeared in previous episodes. Daphne is drinking orange juice at the end during the toast. At the begging of the episode, she mentions "Dr Lee" - could this be an in-joke to co-creator David Lee? Oh, and we also learn Eddie still remembers how to spell "vet"! |
