Skyline: The lift travels up the Seattle Space Needle.Plot: At Cafe Nervosa, Frasier and Niles meet up to play squash. Niles is in his suit as he does not want Daphne to know. He's told her he is seeing patients to get out of driving her mother to a flower show. Roz arrives with her new boyfriend Barry, and after meeting the man Frasier thinks Barry is gay and just leading Roz on. After the squash game, the brothers are walking home. Frasier's shorts had ripped and he is wearing Niles', which are a bit tight. They see Barry in the street and think he has walked into a gay bar. Wanting to help Roz, Frasier goes in as well to find Barry, but it turns out Barry went into the building next door. Niles goes in to tell Frasier Barry is not in there but a misunderstanding leads to people thinking they are lovers! Next day at KACL, a caller inadvertently "outs" Frasier after seeing him in the gay bar. Frasier cannot tell the truth because otherwise he would give Niles' secret away to Daphne. However things start looking up when Alistair Burke, the gay head of the Seattle Opera Guild, sees Frasier in Cafe Nervosa and invites him to the party after his opera next week. Frasier is thrilled with his new friend, and is invited to all the fancy parties and such, but he doesn't see that Alistair is in fact trying to woo him..... Subtitles: The Doctor Is Out; The Queerness Of You. Roz loves..... Barry, who works at Bidwell's as a womenswear buyer. He also spends a lot of time at the gym, leading Frasier to believe he is gay. Trivia: Kelsey Grammer and Patrick Stewart have crossed paths before, as Kelsey has guest starred in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Joe Keenan returns to the show as a writer after a 3 year gap - his last episode before this was Ep 165 "Something Borrowed, Someone Blue". This is actually his 3rd "gay" episode, after Ep 27 "The Matchmaker" and Ep 157 "Out With Dad" - all of which were also directed by David Lee. There's a mention of Gertrude Moon. We have the first guest caller of the season, and also the first appearance of one of Roz's loves this season! |
