The Class System Fighter: Warrior Class The fighter is an expert in weapons. He may be the war veteran in the corner of the tavern or the flashy dandy saucing the barmaid. Whatever manner of weapons and equipment he may use, never let it be said they didn't warn you. Mercenaries: Warrior Class Mercenaries are companies of men following one flag and one goal: Money. On the whole, mercenaries are strict regiments of fighting men who follow a code of honor. Without this honor, few would trust such people, so order is maintained among the ranks. The mercenary companies originated in early, war-torn Pyranus and are more likely to be employed by the Empire rather than in the Kingdoms. The better known mercs companies are the Corwyn's Company, the Elder Knights, and the Wyvern Daggers. Rangers: Warrior Class Rangers are the elite fighters of the Elven warriors. Only through perfect harmony with nature and themselves can they achieve perfect harmony in their chosen weapon. Rangers are restricted to a limited class of weapons (short blades, long blades, bludgeoning, ect.), but they are ultimate trackers in their own environment. Only the best of any other race may be allowed to join the ranks of the Trackers. Thieves: Rogue Class Thieves congregate in the larger towns becoming a part of the local Thieves' Guild. There are many types of thieves. Each specialize in their own art. The Burglars, for example, are adept at breaking into houses, while Strongarms use their brutish strength to an advantage. The one type of Rogue who runs free of the Thieves' Guild is the merchant... Clerics: Priest Class Clerics are those men and women who dedicate their lives to a God. Their spells are not, however, given to them by Gods. Instead, they are closer in nature to the spells that spellsingers use, relying upon ritual chanting of mantras or songs of faith. Very few clerics wander far from their temples. Spells are still taken from the Priest's Spells section of the PHB. Wizards: Mage Class Wizards are a rare breed. There are less than a hundred known wizards in the entirety of Alaundree. An old legend calls wizards "followers of the Lesser Path." No one knows what this means, however. Wizards cast spells by means of gestures and incantations. No spell components (except in special cases) are required. NOTE: All wizards are restricted to fifth level and below spells. Elementalists: Mage Class Elementalists are the Elves' natural wizards. Through the use of their minds, they can bend their environs to their will. The Al'lirial have power over the element of Wood, the Ni'lirial have power over the element of Wind, and the Dra'lirial have power over the element of Stone. Having power, however, is a strong term as the elementalist must have the consent of the material that they wish to manipulate, thus limiting their powers. As they grow in strength, however, elementalists gain increasing ability to command the elements, rather than merely asking. NOTE: This is not a comprehensive list of classes, merely the ones to which I am restricting the PCs. In the course of your adventures, you may run across characters that do not fit these descriptions. |
