The World: Alaundree

Humans: The frigid wasteland barbarians live in the colder regions in Southern Alaundree. Winter predominates most of the year, except for rare occasions during the summer. These savage warriors band together into tribes, ruled by their head warrior and counciled by a matron shaman. The tribes are nomadic, following their reindeer wherever they may lead. Although they know and respect all the Gods, they only follow their own, Gaol.

The Kingdom folk form a large part of Western Klovus, which is the western land mass. While Willamen is the largest of the Four Kingdoms , the three kingdoms comprising its southern border are not far behind in strength. Cordair, the farthest left, is mostly peaceful and agricultural, supplying much grain for the other countries in times of famine. Twalm, the center kingdom, is caught up in aristocracy. Due to their constant training and tournaments, they are ranked among the best knights in Alaundree. Their Order of Sol is the most prestigious Knighthood ever to be built. The third kingdom on the far right is Gorm. The smallest of the Four Kingdoms, it has become the most militant state with every citizen learning a modicum of battle skills. This is due to the fact that many have tried to invade them in the past.

The People of Eastern Klovus live in city-states, continually warring upon each other. Their city-states are usually surrounded by high walls adorned with spikes, and they are often unfriendly towards strangers. Indeed, if it wasn't for their merchants lobbying to allow traders into their city-states, there would be no trade at all with these People. The merchants from these parts seldom travel far from the Eastern Reaches, but the prices that Klovan silk and Klovan carpets are valued at bring many Western merchants to their land. Their culture is a brutal mixture of ruling oligarchies of priests, human sacrifice, and cruel, warring factions. All people from the city-states are marked by twin scars, one on each cheek, a ritual performed at the birth of each child. They separate into classes: the priesthood, the warriors, and the merchants.

The Empire of Pyranus is located across the Crescent Mountains to the northwest of Willamen. As large as the Four Kingdoms combined, they are ruled by their Empress. Here, slavery is legal and quite a status symbol, but only the lowest treat their slaves badly. The Pyranus Empire's army consists of three separate strata: the Foot Soldiers, often called Dog Soldiers from the way they are kept and treated; the Imperial Army, dubbed the Madmen for their fanaticism in battle; and the Empress' Guard, or Golems, from their expressionless faces and complete devotion to the Empress. The ruling families within the Empire are headed by Warlords, each with his own separate armies.

Wood Elves: Also, known as the Al'lirial, these elves have a highly civilized and peaceful nation deep within the woods of Faerie, between the Empire and Willamen. None know very much about these elves except that they highly prize art, beauty, life, and their privacy. Only those who are bidden or invited may enter the sacred forests of Faerie. They possess the pointed ears, slim builds, and uncommon gracefulness natural to all elves. They are similar to humans, though, in all other aspects, such as height and weight. They tend towards the browner skin tones, with light brown or sandy hair. The Al'lirial are ruled by their Queen.

Plain Elves: Arguably the best riders in the land of Alaundree, the Ni'lirial are much friendlier cousins of the Al'lirial. Their horses are prized beyond belief for their amazing strength and size. As opposed to the wonderful magic that the Al'lirial seem to possess, the Ni'lirial possess an innate ability for horses and an unmatched ability with the long bow. They tend to live in great wagons, following the roaming horse herds across the grasslands. The Ni'lirial tend towards fair hair and skin. The Ni'lirial are ruled by their Clan Leaders. They live in the Greater Plains west of the Empire.

Mountain Elves: A far cry from the Drow of the Underdark in the Forgotten Realms, the Dra'lirial are dark skinned elves who live in mountainous areas. They tend to congregate in clans, living in caves that they have carved out slowly into wonderful underground caverns. In tune with the darker caverns, they get along admirably with dwarves, but are often seen above ground more then their dwarven friends. They can see passably well in daylight (akin to how well we humans can see on a moonlit night), but in the dark, they are unsurpassed, rivaled only by the dwarves. Ferocious fighters, they have perfected the art of two weapon style fighting to an amazing degree. While the men tend to prefer battle, the women tend to becoming priests. The Dra'lirial are ruled by Family Heads, usually the strongest male and female, although they don't have to be mated to each other. They live in the mountain ranges on both land masses. The mountains spanning both land masses are the Crescent Mountains and the ones in the Eastern Reaches are the Spade Ranges.

Dwarves: A solitary race, these mountain dwellers seldom leave their caverns for the world outside. Their craftsmenship is the finest in the land and valued as such. Short, stocky, powerfully built, they stand four feet tall and almost as wide. Although they have normal day vision and superb night vision, they seldom leave their ancestral homes for the world outside. Little else is known about them. Each Dwarven enclave is ruled by a Council consisting of the Heads of each family. Dwarves live within all mountain ranges, usually close by their dark elven friends.
