How To Play Nice With The DM

Although the game mechanics are based off of 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, the actual run of the game is very free form. Initially, characters are made and translated into AD&D character sheets in order to give me (the DM) a basic idea of the character's strengths and weaknesses. As the game progresses, however, the mechanics gets farther and farther from actual AD&D rules.

  • If you want to learn a skill or proficiency, you don't have to wait until you go up in levels. Just tell me you want to learn it. Somewhere in your posts, you need to tell me that your practicing that skill, perhaps in your off time, by the campfire, where ever. Eventually, you'll learn it.
  • After the initial creation of your character and their class, the distinction between classes blur. If your fighter wishes to learn how to pick locks, ask a thief. If your thief wants to learn spells, ask a wizard. If your wizard wants to become a god... ask a priest?
  • Dice become a matter of preference for me. When I'm reading the posts in the computer labs, I don't have any dice with me, so often times actions will be decided directly by me. Combat and other such random events, however, I try to use dice in order to keep it fair.
