Bits of my life caught in the web.
I was looking for midis for a friend and I came across the one now playing. It brought memories flooding back to me. Most of what I have tried to forget.
I have promised to write my story, so as the memories are fresh from the song here goes.
When I was 12 going on 13 my parents had many friends. One of those was a man that would come over and visit. I wish I could remember his name. He was one of the few men that didn't try and touch me. I remember comming home from school and there he was in his uniform. Ready to go to war. Said he was needed and was ready to do his part. He was saying good bye to all of us and pulled me aside to tell me how to protect myself from 'men'. He gave me a lesson that day, made me promise to never forget it. I haven't, it makes me strong in the knowlege of self-defence. The 'I know I can take care of myself' has carried me through the years.
He went off to Vietnam. I don't know if he ever came back. To my unknown soldier. You will live in my heart forever.
If you are that soldier and reading this please let me know you came home. I know you would remember the hold that you taught me. E-mail me and tell me what you taught me that day, so I will know it is you.
