Some basic differences between Christianity and Mormons:

Christians Mormons
God: is uniquely eternal and all powerful, the only God, and He is a Spirit. (John 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17)
God: is a material being who once was a man like us. They believe that men can achieve godhood through works and that there are many gods.
The Bible: is given to men by the Holy Spirit through men and is complete, needing no additions. If it needed additions that would mean it was not correct in the first place.(Revelation 22:18-19; Galatians 1:8)
The Bible: The writings of Joseph Smith are 'new scripture' ie. they are divinely inspired from God and are therefore equal with the Bible.
Sin: Man is not godlike but is sinful and separated from God. Faith in Christ is what opens the door to a relationship with God.
Sin: Man is progressively becoming a god. They say that Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden was necessary in order to provide parents for spirit children of God who were waiting for the experience of life.
Salvation:Is a free gift from God for all who accept and have faith in His Son and the price He paid for our sins on the cross.(Ephesians 2:8-9)
Salvation: comes by works. All men will spend eternity on a level of heaven, depending on the quality of his works.
