Christian Science

Some basic differences between Christianity and Christian Science:

Christians Christian Science
God: God is best represented as a person in that He speaks, knows, remembers hears and he created man in His own threefold image. As He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit so man is body, soul and spirit (Genesis 1 : 26-27).
God: God is an impersonal Principle. Mrs. Eddy, founder of the movement, says that 'God is all...the soul, the mind, of the spiritual man is God, the Divine Principal of all being'.
Jesus Christ: Christ and God are one.Check out the following scriptures to do with the deity (equality) of Christ with God
(John 1 : 1; John 1 : 14; John 10 : 30).
Jesus Christ: Science and Health states that "Jesus Christ is not God"(p.361). Christian Scientists believe that Christ was simply a great teacher.
Matter: Matter is real. Jesus became flesh, ate, drank, fed people.
Matter: There is no matter. Matter is only an illusion. Only Principle (God) exists.
Sin: Sin is real. It originates in the mind and heart of man. We are tempted by our own evil desires which give birth to sin which produces spiritual death (James 1 : 14-15).
Sin: Science and Health states: Since God is All, there is no room for the opposite...therefore evil, being the opposite of goodness, is unreal.(p.234)
