etc. Salathiel listed in census for Onandaga Co, NY (next to Cayuga
Co) in 1800. Not in 1790 or 1810 NY census. He bought land: 5/17/1809;
lot 31; sec 00 twp 09 range 07; code R (table of reversions - land to
revert to previous owner if unclaimed?); Ref-Page 488-0134; section
appears to be in Erie Co. Listed again with code P (original listed
again); Ref-Page 497-0083. Another listing: 5/18/1819; same numbers;
code W (renewed); Ref-Page 497-0084. Pension file contains following:
Salathel, S11960, MA Line, appl 10 Dec 1832 Erie Cty NY aged 68, b
Worcester Cty MA Feb 1764, lived in Uxbridge MA at enl & had lived
Rutland Cty VT, Oneida Cty NY & Cayuga Cty NY after the war, sol d 19
Jan 1852. Massachussets Soldiers and Sailors gives following: Albee,
Salathiel, Uxbridge. Private{Capt.} Benjamin Read's co, Col. John
Rand's (Worcester Co.) regt.; enlisted July 14, 1780; discharged Oct.
12, 1780; service, 3 mos. 8 days, at West Point; enlistment, 3 months;
company raised to reinforce Continental Army; also{Capt.} Reuben
Davis's co., Col. Luke Drury's regt.; enlisted July 27, 1781;
discharged Nov. 10, 1781; service, 3 mos. 22 days; enlistment, 3
months; reported arrived at West Point, Aug. 10, 1781. LDS has line
traced back much further. Selthiel found in Vt census 1771 (1778
record) in Danby, resident WIL 869:35 (Wilmington) - unrelated?

"History of Clay County, Iowa," gives name as James Gadsby, who died
in early manhood. Another source (Spaghadoros) gives name as Thomas:
"Thomas Gadsby who was buried at Shirley Churchyard, Derbyshire in
November 1835, aged 33. This means that he was born in 1802, if the
recorded age at burial is to be believed. I have so far failed to
trace any record of his birth/baptism but do know that he married
Sarah Smith on 19th August 1822 at Shirley, and that he had several
children, including William, Tom's father. William married Emma
Bannister on 17 September 1850 at Shirley."

LDS has possibly another child, Lawrence, born in 1523, who married
Cicely. Also lists another possible marriage, unknown. Probably
related to another Thomas, born before 1500. Article gives no name for
wife. Probably had several other children. May be Thomas buried at
Upper Gravenhurst 6/6/1585, although may refer to a young child of his
son John. A land transaction from 1639 is sole evidence of existence:
Conveyance of Wm. Whitbred of Ion alias Ine, Upper Gravenhurst, gent;
Henry Whitbread of the same, gent (son and heir apparent of Wm.), and
Elizabeth his wife; Wm. Carter of Offley, Herts, gent; and John
Sheppard of grocer, of London; for 2,200 pounds paid to Wm. & Henry
Whitbred; with covenant to levy a fine. A capital house or manor house
in the tenure of Wm. and Hen. Whitbred; 4 cottages in Upper
Gravenhurst (names of occupants are given). Covenant as to "tytles
troubles charges incumbrances and demands whatsoever heretofore donne
or wittingly suffered by them the said Wm. Whitbred or by Thomas
Whitbread his deceased grandfather." 8 October 1639. -TAG 32:133.
