Somebody asked a said - "Do
you love God?" The saint replied, "Yes". The man again
asked, "Then you hate Devil?" The saint said, "Child, I
don't have time to hate anyone."
-------------------------------------------
To claim one's right is not easy. One has to pay price for claiming
rights. Sometimes one has to perform several duties to claim one right.
-------------------------------------------
To maintain relationship, sometimes one has to be separate from each
other.
-------------------------------------------
Days are not good or bad, good or bad are Karm (actions).
-------------------------------------------
Trees are tied to ground through their roots. They can either be cut, or
they themselves can fall by breaking.
-------------------------------------------
The main problem of anger is that it cannot differentiate between right and
wrong, thus contributes to lose the right path.
--------------------------------------------
Why anger is bad? Because when one is angry, his thinking power is gone,
without thinking he cannot decide what is right and what is wrong. And
when one doesn't know about right and wrong, he is not responsible for his
Karm - actions.
--------------------------------------------
There are three illegitimate (unjustified or we have no control on them,
or we cannot do anything about them) problems with us - (1) sorrow - no
matter whatever we do we cannot make our life 100% happy; (2) time - we have limited time;
we have no control on it and (3) ignorance
- no matter how much knowledge one gains, still it is never enough.
---------------------------------------------
Hunger destroys one's wisdom and drives one off the path of righteousness. One
whose intelligence is affected by hunger, he casts off all fortitude. he who
conquers hunger, conquers Heaven. One's righteousness is never destroyed as long
as he continues to make gifts. You have disregarded all kinds of affection for
the love of righteousness. The acquisition of wealth is of slight merit, but
making gifts out of that is greater merit; and still greater merit is [proper]
time to give it. Lastly devotion is the greatest merit of these. (MBH,
7/23)
-----------------------------------------
Meeting ends in separation and life ends in death, but Trishnaa (intense desire to
have something) never ends, therefore contentment is the highest pleasure.
(Naarad Puraan, 1/25)
-----------------------------------------
One should control his sexual desires and stomach by patience, hands and
feet by eyes, eyes and ears by mind, and mind and speech by good
education.
-----------------------------------------
There is no Teerth like Gangaa, there is no Guru like mother, there is no Devtaa like Vishnu,
and there is no Tattwa greater than Guru. (Naarad Puraan, p 25)
-----------------------------------------
There is no brother like Shaanti (peace), no greater Tap than Satya (truth), no
greater benefit than Moksh and no higher river than Gangaa. (Naarad
Puraan, p 25)
-----------------------------------------
There is no death like defame, no enemy like anger, no sin like speaking ill about others, and no fear
like Moh (intense love), no defame like seeing fault in others, no fire like Kaam (desire), no bondage like Raag
(attachment) and no poison like attachment. (Naarad Puraan, p 27)
------------------------------------------
There is no way of Praayashchit for a killer of child in the womb. There is no Praayashchit
for Naastik (atheists), unfaithful, A-Dharmee and traitors also. (Naarad
Puraan, p 28)
------------------------------------------
One's own intellect gives joy, Guru's intellect brings special joy, other's
intellect is the cause of destruction only and a woman's intellect
brings only Pralaya.
(Naarad Puraan, p 42)
------------------------------------------
Wealth has three types of Gati (use) - donation, enjoyment, and destruction. Who
neither donates it nor enjoys it, his wealth becomes the cause of his
destruction. Fruit of wealth is Dharm, and Dharm is the same which pleases
Vishnu. Who do not do good to others by body, mind or speech, or wealth,
they should be considered great sinners. (Naarad Puraan, p 46-47)
-------------------------------------------
There is no Teerth like Gangaa, there is no Guru like mother, there is no
Devtaa like Vishnu, and there is no greater Tap than fasting. There is no
mother like Forgiveness, there is no wealth like fame, there is no benefit
like knowledge, there is no father like Dharm, there is no friend like
Vivek and there is no Vrat like Ekaadashee. (Naarad Puraan, p 86)
------------------------------------------
This Jeev, born on Prithvi, is bound to Kaamanaa (desires and wishes). He becomes greedy because
of Kaam (desires), greed makes him angry, and anger destroys Dharm, as
Dharm is destroyed Buddhi (mind) also get disoriented, and whose Buddhi
gets disoriented, he starts committing sins; therefore this body is the
root of all sins and the same indulges in Paap.
(Naarad Puraan, p 123)
--------------------------------------------
Deer manages with grass, fish lives in water, and gentle people live with
contentment; but three types of people are enemies of even these three without any reason in
the world, they are - hunter (who kills deer), Dheevar (who bring water to families) and who tell
about one to another. All relations are only a man's own till he earns the
money, but Dharm is useful in both the worlds. "Whatever is to
happen, will happen; and whatever is not to happen, will never
happen" who think in this way, they never worry about anything.
(Naarad
Puraan, p 138)
-----------------------------------------
Shaastra say that one should do Yagya etc Karm to abandon
wealth; Vrat to abandon pleasures, Tap to abandon physical comforts; and
Yog to abandon everything. This is the outer most limit of abandoning the
world. To
abandon everything is the best way to get rid of sorrows and pains.
(Naarad
Puraan, p 164)
-----------------------------------------------
There is no eye
like knowledge. there is no Tapasyaa like Truth, there is no sorrow like
intense love, there is no comfort like sacrifice. To be away from Paap
Karm, to do always Punya Karm, to follow saints' behavior and observing
good conduct - are the best means of pleasure.
(Naarad Puraan, p 393)
-------------------------------------------------
Whichever
wealth is not donated, that also goes away; whichever kingdom is not
guarded well that kingdom is also lost; and whichever Gyaan is not
practiced, it also doesn't stay long. Lazy people don't obtain knowledge
and who are always busy in Vrat, they don't get wife. One doesn't get
fame without Bhagavaan's Bhakti, one doesn't get pleasure without hard
work, and one doesn't get children without wife. Unclean person doesn't
earn Punya, whoever Braahman doesn't speak sweetly, he doesn't get money; who
doesn't question elder people, he doesn't obtain knowledge; who doesn't
start his journey, he never arrives anywhere; and who is always awake, he
never fears. (Naarad Puraan, p 607)
----------------------------------------------------
There is no other month like
Kaartik, no other Yug like Sat Yug, no other Dharm like kindness, and no
other light like eyes. There is no other Shaastra like Ved, no other
Teerth like Gangaa, no other donation like land donation, no other worldly
pleasure like wife's pleasure, no other wealth like farms, no other
benefit like to maintain a cow, no other Tap like fasting, and no other
way of doing good like keeping one's Indriyaan under control, no other
satiation like tongue (taste) satiation, no other Varn like Braahman, no
other prosperity like health, no other Devtaa like Vishnu, and no other
Vrat like Kaartik Vrat. Thus learned people say.
(Naarad Puraan, p
612-613)
------------------------------------------------------
One should take good
education from a Chaandaal, good girl from a low family, Amrit from Vish,
teachings from a child, good conduct from an enemy, and gold from an
unholy place.
(Bhavishya Puraan, p 18-19)
