H I S S Y K N I T: me
I was born in Kenmore, NY. I'm a Cancer (but I'm benign).
I grew up in Grand Island, outside of
Buffalo, New York. All the jokes you've heard
about Buffalo (and The Sabres and The Bills) are true. Trust
me.
In 1992, moved to Maryland and lived there for about twelve
years.
I am currently living in Misawa,
Japan. I moved here in June 2004. It's been a
big adventure.
I came to Japan with no Japanese whatsoever, other than a
few standard phrases, such as:
hello, goodbye, thank you, I understand, I don't understand,
how much is it, I would like a beer,
and where is the bathroom. I am currently taking coursework
in the Japanese language. It's slow-going.
I have been married to Chris for one year. We look like this
(but not all the time):
I like the outdoors, hand-made presents, wool
socks, the color purple (duh), libraries, good food, good
beer, good wine, artisanal chocolates, blackberries, raspberries,
noodles, my ex-husband and most of my ex-boyfriends, homemade
ice cream, tempura, tattoos, just about any kind of music,
bookstores, other people's kids, hanging out, napping on Sunday
afternoon and other things which I could just go on and on
about. I dislike driving, beansprouts, dark basements and
math tests. When I grow up, I want to be a mortician. I have
a (lame) blog.
My hobbies (other than knitting) include reading,
home brewing beer, cooking and baking, biking, gardening,
going to Loyola College (when stateside), kayaking, collecting
kimono, futzing with computers, and the martial arts of Kendo
and Naginata.
I originally learned how to knit way back when I was about
nine. My best-beloved Grandma D. tried to teach me.
I only got as far as making a few inches of sad-looking garter
stitch. In November 2004, for no apparent reason, I suddenly
decided to try again.
