Transfiguration

Alright, this is your second Transfiuration class. Now that you have a simple idea of how to do a transfiguration, I'll tell you some things you'll need to actually complete a spell. First, you'll of course need your begining object. You can't make much out of air, because whatever you get will have the same desity and mass. So remember that. This is not conjuring, which is Advanced Charms, this is Transfiguration. You must start with something. It's easier to do if what you start with is like in some way to what you want - which is why match-needle is a nice starting point. A match is about the same dimensions of a needle. If you had a sickle and tried to turn that into a needle, you'd have a considerable amount of trouble. The main reason being that Space and Shape are much harder to change than the Materialistic Properties.

Now, for an assignment! First, using your common sense, define "Space and Shape" and "Materialistic Properties". After you've done that, pick something that would be suitable for turning into a Seven-Layer Black Forest Cake. You may try it, using the method used last class, and eat it. If you describe this escapade it's a bonus of 10 marks. Once you've done that, explain in your own words why Shape and Space is harder to change than the Matirialistic Properties. The whole project is out of 40 marks (5 for Space and Shape, 5 for Materialistic Properties, 10 for your object, and 20 for your explaination) with a possible 10 marks bonus.

TRANSFIGURATION 1 - for all ye lazy, new, or otherwise detained.

Welcome to your Transfiguration class. In the very hectic opening, your teahcer was never able to write your class for you, so I, Professor Flitwick, will sub. Transfiguration is, the way we do it, a series of small, singular changes. They are linked into one by the spell. You can actually do any Transfiguration now, you don't need to know the spells for it. But it's very difficult to actually manage to remember to do every little change. So some people do, link some words to it, and sell it. Your project for today is to go through all the steps you can think of to turn a tea-kettle into a kitten. (You may keep the kitten, or, if you're alergic or don't like them, return it to me.) There must be at least 15 steps, but if you do more that are logical, you may get bonus. The progect is out of 15. Email your answer to flitwick@charms.zzn.com
