Shanghai Knights: Status Report
Right now Jackie Chan is chased by a group of reporters from Hong Kong and Taiwan. That is one reason there are so many SHANGHAI KNIGHTS news in recent days. Taiwan's United News reports Jackie Chan just finished a barn scene yesterday. Today they will move to the second location to shoot a train station scene,
which will be in the beginning of the movie, and another scene at a mockup of the Buckingham Palace, which
will be the ending of the movie.
Jackie Chan is a collector of pretty much everything and he wants to build a museum of his collections. The revenue will all be
donated to charities. He even lent an antique pocket watch he brought in Prague to Owen Wilson for him to use in the movie.
Next month, they will move to London and then Calgary Canada to finish the shooting.

Jackie
Chan: More Jackie Chan's Diary (Official Jackie Chan Site)
More entries of Jackie Chan's diary have been added on the official Jackie Chan site
(click here) However, April 7's and May 2's entries are the same. Access Hollywood just did a report on this movie with some very short interview with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. Once again, Jackie Chan expressed his interest of staring in a pure drama and said RUSH HOUR 3 and 4 were definitely a go (they will very likely be filmed simultaneously).
It also showed Jackie Chan practicing moves with a vegetable cart, Jackie Chan with a small child (Aaron Johnson?), and a few
shots of Prague.
Shanghai
Knights: Jackie Chan Kicking High
Taiwan's United Evening News just visited Jackie Chan in Czech Republic. Set of a harbor factory warehouse was built inside an old warehouse outside of Prague. Jackie Chan has come out tons of moves using a big cross lock (?). The day before, Jackie Chan has been hanging up-side-down whole day to make the scene of he being dumped into a pond by the bad guys. Thought the water was guaranteed clean and a doctor was standing by, it still made him very sick. He said, "now its another lead Owen Wilson's turn to enjoy the rare taste". Jackie Chan has reportedly collected a personal record of US$17.5 million from the movie and if adding up bonus, the total number could be as high as 25 million.
Last night, Entertainment Tonight just showed the first behind-the-scene footage. Scenes include Jackie Chan fighting with Donnie Yen(?), Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson disguising as an Indian
Prince and Sherlock Holmes, Jackie Chan fighting with two British guards in front of a fireplace, Queen Victoria's carriage (?)
passing through a welcoming crowd, Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson and Fann Wong (played Jackie's little sister) hiding in a stable,
and Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson fleeing the fire in a car. The program also mentioned Jackie Chan is posting video diary on the
official site.

Shanghai Knights: Entertainment Tonight Looks at Shanghai Knights
Entertainment Tonight showed a few clips from Shanghai Knights. Here's a description. SPOILERS:
They showed brief clips of the car scene. That car looks a little older than 1899! (but I'm no expert) Also a few seconds of the barge fight with fireworks going on in the background. The funniest moments included Roy and Chon being introduced at a high society affair as "Admiral Sherlock Holmes" (Roy) and "His Highness, the Maharaja of Nevada" (Chon) there were also some clips that may or may not be part of the film, including Jackie wearing a red, feather boa over his costume. He hit himself over the head with a breakaway bottle and then gave one of his famous cross eyed reactions. The next shot showed him (Still wearing the boa) and doing something like a Charleston .He then smiled into the camera and winked "Hi there, sailor!"

Shanghai Knights: On Set Report
Visiting the old town of Kutna Hora, Czechia the 17th of April
2002 there were movie sets and movielights around the famous Gothic cathedral of Saint Barbara. A British flag alley and lawn
with fake street lamps and a huge fake sculpture of Queen Victoria was outside the cathedral, and inside cathedral it was
full of movielights and cables. Some locals explained it was Shanghai Knights that was shot here, and everything was made
out to pretend to be the Westminster Abbey in the late nineteenth century."

Shanghai Knights: Jackie talks about Owen Wilson
"Today, before filming, I went to look at another set with the
director, producers, art director, prop master and my stunt team. Another one of our big fights in the film is coming up and
it takes place in a market. It's going to be a funny scene since
all kinds of props will be used in the fight -- fruits, vegetables and baskets.
I'm really starting to enjoy working with Owen. The more we
work together, the more fun I have with him. He's changed so much from "Shanghai Noon." He is more relaxed, more playful,
more creative and more committed. Because his films have all been successful, he feels more confident. When you are
confident, people believe in you.
I understand how he feels. When I was young and inexperienced, nobody believed in me. After I proved myself and
became successful, then people started to trust me.
Owen was recently nominated for an Oscar for one of his
screenplays. I know it is only a matter of time that he will win one. With his talent and his charm, he will go very far.
I really like his little dog, "Garcia." He must be Owen's
inspiration. He has become our mascot. Every day, we all play with him on the set. He lifts all our spirits and brings a smile to
all our faces. Somebody discovered that he really likes laser pointers, so now everybody has one so they can play with him. I
think it's a good thing we found something to distract him, otherwise he often tries to get into the shot. "

Accidental Spy: Jackie wrote this letter to fans about filming naked
The Accidental Spy. Some spoilers in here:
Hi! I've never been cleaner in my whole life than in the last four days. The reason? I've had to shoot a scene in the famous
"Turkish Bath", fighting bad guys in the bathhouse. I have to be naked, and before every scene lather my body with soap. After days of this, I feel as fresh as a daisy from head to toe.
Fans who've never seen my naked body will be both delighted and shocked when they see these scenes in the coming Spring
of 2001. Imagine a naked man in martial combat!

Highbinders: Tara Leniston Joins Highbinders (HollywoodGossips Exclusive)
The Irish Times reports:
Tara Leniston (18), plays an Irish nurse in Highbinders, a police thriller where Chan plays Eddie, a Hong Kong detective killed on duty in
Dublin. Ms Leniston has also been signed by the JC Group, the agency set up by Chan and his manager for people they think have potential. Acceptance by JC Group is the ambition of every budding Hong Kong starlet...She then called every film industry person in the phone book and heard of a casting for Highbinders. She auditioned, won the part, and went back to Ireland to film. On her return from filming, she received a call from the director's assistant to say her role had been enlarged and they needed her for more shooting. This was followed by an offer to sign up with the JC
Group. She says Jackie Chan loved the Irish people but wasn't too keen on Dublin rain that delayed shooting. Because of this the same Irish scenes were recreated exactly in Asian locations. A replica of Dublin Castle was built outside Bangkok.

Peiking Hour: Jackie Chan's upcoming project Peiking Hour to unites Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon
Who’s In It: Jackie Chan (Detective Inspector Lee/Chon Wang); Chris Tucker (Detective James Carter); Owen Wilson
(Roy O’Bannon); Chris Penn (Sean’s Brother); Alan Rickman (Drug Lord); Robert Downey Jnr (Coke™ Salesman);
Garth Franklin (Lovable Nerd); Christopher Walken (Intimidating Art Curator); Charlton Heston (Gun Salesman); Bill
Clinton (Police Chief Dubya)
Comments: When New Line noticed that every buddy movie with Jackie Chan made enough money to warrant a sequel, they figured why not put all of their eggs in one chicken, and make a simultaneous sequel to Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon? Initial plans were also to incorporate another Les Visiteurs sequel as well as making it an addition to the Back to the Future series, but were soon dismissed as "stupid". For More Information.

Liu Chia-liang's comment on actors he has worked with: (NetandTV Exclusive)
Jackie Chan - "He is risking his life and playing it very dangerously. His moves are excellent and funny." Sammo Hung - "His body is fat but he can really turn somersaults!" Jet Li - "What he is playing is wushu, not kung-fu."
Andy Lau - "He can mimic (the moves) instantly and can play it whenever you ask him to play. He is smart. He can sing and dance very well. His moves look like dance. Very beautiful." Chow Yun-fat - "He worked very hard. When I asked him to fight, he just spend his sleep time to practice." |

Final shot of Highbinders
In
this scene, Jackie Chan's character drowned while attempted to save a kidnapped
boy from a container submerged in the sea. They spent three days working inside
a swimming pool for the scene which will show up in the very early of the film
and probably will not last more than five minutes on screen. More than a dozen
of identical suits were prepared for Jackie Chan and he had to change suits
between takes. Large amount of bleach powder were dumped into the cold water
which has made his skin brighter than ever. Each time Jackie Chan climbed out of
the pool, he used bottled water to wash his eyes. In addition he had to wear a
20 pound lead brick to make sure he can sink.

Fan
Review of Rush Hour 2 DVD
May I dare say, please give yourself permission to laugh out loud as you watch one of the most hilarious film ever produced by Jackie Chan's group. Tucker makes you laugh until you can't laugh anymore! I've watched this film at the George Street Cinemas in Sydney, Australia (Hoyt/Greater Union/Village's 18-screen cinema complex). The stunts and the kung fu fights are very well done. I loved every minute of it! You will love it too! Rating: 10/10 - Philippa Wong

Jackie Chan to travel through time with TITANIUM RAIN
Oriental
Daily, The
Sun, monkeypeaches
have reported that big budget sci-fi movie TITANIUM
RAIN has been added to Jackie
Chan's working schedule for this year. Budgeted at approximately 40 million US
dollars. The story starts in
present day when a satellite crashed to the earth in thousands of pieces (Guess
that's what Titanium all about). The debris somehow opened some portals among
different times. Then a warrior from the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) played by
Jackie Chan starts his journey through time and the story begins. Jackie
Chan loves the script, because the movie will promote traditional Chinese value
like keeping one's responsibility. In this movie, Jackie Chan will use less of
his fists and try some ancient weapons. Filming locations for this English plus
Mandarin Chinese film will include Hong Kong, mainland China, Europe (Russia)
and North America. Shooting will start in October right after Jackie Chan
finishing SHANGHAI
KNIGHTS and THE
BELLBOY, and it will be
released during the Chinese
New Year of 2004. Cast will
consist of actors from Hong Kong, Japan and the US, but will not be finalized
until the script is done. (Want to know more about the Ming Dynasty, Jet

Jackie has refused to go to the hospital and said, "I really hate filling hospital forms and don't like the smell of hospitals." About his wound, Jackie said, "luckily I'm a man. Should the accident happened to an actress, she would be in big trouble, her face would be destroyed. (Our) men can add a little bit scars on face, hands or feet. (That's) more manly.
