WMC2003 Party Reviews
One
thing I always seem to forget about the WMC is just how
hard it is to party for five days straight, with little
to no sleep. By Friday it had all caught up to me so I had
to sleep in that day. Regrettably, I missed a lot of wonderful
day parties to get some much needed rest. That evening I
headed down to
Bash for the third time this year for Snap, the Doubledown
Recordings party. I decided to bypass the main room and
headed straight for the back patio. The lineup out there
was absolutely incredible. First, I got to see the East
Coast Boogiemen again and they were even better than the
night before. Everyone was dancing their hearts out, especially
when they played 'Seriousfunkilla' by Busta Funk and '10'
by Derrick Carter. Following the ECB was Raoul Belmans and
he ripped it up, also even better than the previous evening.
Kaskade
was up next and it was my first time seeing him spin. He
was incredible and played one of my favorite songs that
he produced - "What I Say". The crowd was
really
worked up after his set but Jonene was ready to take control.
The back patio was going crazy! Unfortunately it was at
this time that the big speakers decided to blow out. The
crowd was not happy and it was a bit of a damper to an otherwise
perfect evening. The sound was fixed pretty quickly, but
some of the momentum of Jonene's set was lost. He was still
awesome, though, despite the technical difficulties.
The
night closed with Lindsay Frkovich singing live over a banging
set by Sombionx. They were awesome, but I was a little bummed
becauseI didn't get to see Johnny Fiasco. Oh well, there's
always next year! The sun was up by the time I left Bash
and the last day of the conference had already begun.
