DEAR GRANDMA SARAH'S LETTER SARAH'S PETITION DEFENSE FUND LETTER TO AMY DA DENTES

Following are pictures of letters written by Sarah to explain her situation and to beg for help. It is really too bad when the people who have the power won't listen because they have their own agenda. Please double click on the letters to view them.

SARAH'S LETTER TO ANDREA MOONEY

Sarah wrote this letter to her court-appointed law guardian- her attorney,  Andrea Mooney of Tompkins County:  Andrea Mooney only saw Sarah and Harriett twice in the nearly two years she "represented" them. I personally spoke with Andrea Mooney in December 1998 after my granddaughter, Sarah told me that her mother [Amy Wheeler Hughes] was forcing Sarah to completely undress and that she [Amy Wheeler Hughes] was looking at Sarah's vagina and breasts. Sarah also told me that her mother [Amy Wheeler Hughes] was forcing Sarah to take showers with her (Sarah was 12 years old) and that Amy would wash Sarah's private parts. Sarah cried, said that she was embarrassed, and that she told her mother that she did not want to take a shower with her or be nude for her-  Sarah said that her mother told her that she [Sarah] had to do it. Andrea Mooney was quite "put out" that I had bothered her by calling her and she said to me, in a very abrupt manner, "What do you expect me to do about it- I am not paid to babysit !"

NYS CRIME VICTIM'S REPLY

Sarah sent in the appropriate complaint form and as of August, 2000, she has not received a response from the Crime Victim's Board.  As you can see from Sarah's letter, she did not request the Crime Victim's Board to assist her or her father in custody matters because her father had sole legal and physical custody of both Sarah and Harriett when they fled, rather Sarah asked the Crime Victim's Board to help her and Harriett come back to New York and be safe. Obviously, the Crime Victim's Board did not take the time to read Sarah's letter very carefully.

Over the past year, I have written to every organization that has ever stated that they help children, crime victims, fathers, and/or families. I have sent at least 1500 letters to various organizations, politicians, law enforcement agencies, courts, and local, state, and federal agencies. I even wrote twice to Hillary Clinton, who says that she wants to REPRESENT and help the children and families of New York State. Hillary didn't even reply. This has been a real eye opener. I have kept every response. Everyone said in effect,  ......I am so sorry.......how horrible......my heart goes out to you.......child abuse is a terrible thing.....but, I don't know what I can do...... Who pays these people???? Even Representative Marty Luster of Tompkins County said that he knows my son, David, and he knows of the horrendous things that have happened but that there is nothing he can do- and HE represents the county in which David, Sarah, and Harriett lived. No one has had the guts to step forward and demand that Tompkins County do their job.
