Please note that as per section 48 of Customs Act, goods must be cleared within 30 days after unloading. Otherwise, goods can be sold after giving notice to importer. However, animals, perishable goods and hazardous goods can be sold any time - even before 30 days. If goods cannot be cleared in 30 days, these can be stored in warehouse pending clearance, under section 49. The goods are stored without carrying out assessment and hence normal provisions of clearance from warehouse are not applicable.
