ROSE/DRAGON

COMMENT : The serpent in this drawing is actually a rose. Symbolizing love and desire, I thought it would be a good choice to use it here. I wanted to contradict the meaning by showing it as a dangerous serpent constricting the knight and trying to burn him with fire. Its thorns are an indication of danger. To show love or something that could be love as being dangerous. I think sometimes we are blind to love and can be hurt by it. The knight just represents a regular person. One important thing to note is that the knight does NOT have any weapon meaning that he is not fighting the serpent(love). I tried to make the head of the serpent, the petals and leaves look beautiful to show that something as beautiful as love can be dangerous. This is one the few drawings that I ended up coloring. The roses' petals are a crimson red, and the leaves are dark green. Another detail is that the outlines of the flames of the fire the serpent is breathing are all small stars colored bright blue. Thats right, I drew a lot of them. I really like how the coils of the serpent came out.
