COMMENT :
I wonder about whether we are born essentially good or bad. and how environmental and or social influence
affects the development of our character and conscience. I believe in freewill and that we choose our path,
however, i think that a significant portion of our way of thinking is developed by our social experience. So i
think its kind of hard to judge someone, not knowing whether their actions are based solely on their freewill or
because of affects from society. However i think ultimately its our conscience that determines to what extent
our environment shapes us. One person may resist something that another person may not. So its not up to
us to judge someone, but it is up to us to maintain an environment that supports good social, ethical and moral
values.
In the drawing the character has both horns and a halo, devil wings and angel wings, implying he is
both good and bad. The horns and halo are "bleeding" which represents that they are loosing their definition,
(being 2 separate entiites) and mixing on his hand to form some combination of good and evil. the reason that
they are falling on his hand is because i wanted to show that the hands are the things which we use to act on
our thoughts. The phrase at the bottom says
It is the sculptor of our sins.
the judge of our crimes
the executioner of our punishment.
The architect of our goodness.
It is the chooser of our ways.
