YIN-YANG

COMMENT : A lot of my drawings have a lot of contradictory components in them. Recently, i've been drawing a lot of material with angels, the devil, and representations of good and evil. in this i was trying to convey a couple of things. One was that we all ready have predefined perceptions of good and evil and i wanted to show that we can be wrong. usually when we see a snake in some artwork it is associated with evil. i guess its because of the adam and eve story, which i don't know much about. but in this case the snake has the angel on it, a symbol of good. the yinyang is supposed to represent some balance in nature. i wanted to show that there is balance between good and evil. and that though with good and evil, there are traces of evil in good and traces of good in evil. it doesn't make sense if u think of it in general, but i was really trying to show that idea in terms of society and groups of people. its not possible for somethings to exist without its opposite. for example how can there be light without dark, love with out hate, and good without evil. if there was no evil to oppose good then how could u define what "good" is? i wanted to show that also. drawing wise, i think this came about excellent. its my favorite piece. but in terms of representing an idea, its not too good, because like i said tried to show too many things and it came out somewhat confusing. i think i am MUCH MORE symbolic in my drawings than in my poetry.
