An astute, fully qualified and "hands-on" marine claims adjuster and recovery specialist for the last 6 years who graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore.

An Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London, a member of the Singapore Insurance Institute and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner.

Experience:

• Legal Consultant for Insight Marine Services Pte Ltd, providing advice to its clients on a spectrum of marine activities, liability under cargo and hull policies, legal liability of the underwriters under their liability policies.

• Between 1991 to May 1997, he worked as a marine claims adjuster and recovery specialist for W.K. Webster (International) Pte Ltd, an international providing marine claims and recovery service to insurance companies.  From the position of Executive, he rose through the ranks to become the Manager, assisting the Resident Director in dealing with complex and complicated cargo claims,day-to-day running of the office, regional operations, market development and managing and providing guidance to a team of 11 claims adjusters/handlers and recovery specialists and a team of 4 surveyors and investigators.

• Handled a number of claims involving piracy in Indonesian waters and the waters off the coast of Vietnam, the Southern part of China and off Hong Kong waters relating to cargoes worth about S$1 million.

• Handled numerous large claims ranging from US$200,000.00 to US$3 million for cargo underwriters involving contamination of liquid chemicals shipped in bulk, which required dealing with salvage sale and advising insurers on their policy liability.

• He has assisted insurers both locally and internationally in resolving numerous disputes under the policies involving difficult claimants and sensitive accounts.
