A very experienced and fully qualified Engineer Surveyor for the last 8 years, who holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering and a Trade & Industry First Class Engineer's Certificate of Competence from the Marine Department, who has both sea-going and shore based experience.

A member of the Society of Marine Engineers & Naval Architects and a Licenced Appraiser registered with the Singapore Government.

Experience:

• Between 1982 to 1987, he worked for Singa Ship Management Pte Ltd on board various cargo ships responsible for the running and maintenance of the vessels' machinery and equipment, rising from Cadet Engineer to Chief Engineer.

• He started a shore-based career as a Marine Engineer Surveyor in late 1988 with SSI Marine Surveying Pte Ltd and subsequently with Tech-Mar Marine Services Pte Ltd / OMIC (S) Pte Ltd between April 1989 to July 1997, dealing with a wide variety of surveys such as hull and machinery damage survey of ships, claims involving the legal liability of shipyards and floating docks, salvage operations and oil pollution, damage surveys of jetties and industrial engineering surveys.

• Whilst at Tech-Mar Marine Services Pte Ltd, he also dealt with on-hire and off-hire general condition surveys, pre-purchase inspection, condition surveys for leading hull underwriters and P & I Clubs, ship appraisal / valuation surveys for leading banks and financial institutions as well as the Supreme Court of Singapore.

• Major assignments include investigation into damage at Malacca port to 1 km long oil/gas pipes and jetty structure which was damaged by a drifting barge and investigation into a major ship repairer's liability regarding two sister 10,000 dwt tankers on which, the stern tubes and bearings of both vessels had to be rebored/refabricated as a result of misalignments.
