BIODATA

LIM MING WEI, SANNY - MANAGER, AIRPORT DIVISION

Another rather seasoned cargo surveyor, Sanny brings to the company, his wealth of experience, having spent the last 22 years in the cargo survey business.

Experience

  • Started his career in 1975 as an Ultrasonic Inspector for Metlabs Mapel Property Co Pte Ltd, dealing with inspections of gas and oil rig equipment, aircraft and helicopter parts and heavy machineries for companies such as Brown & Roots, Smit International and Asia Drilling Company.
  • During his years as a cargo surveyor, his job had taken him to various countries, including Saigon, Vietnam where he was responsible for the inspection and supervision of repaired motor blades for refurbished military helicopters, during the retreat of American forces from Vietnam.
  • Between 1975 to 1981, he had developed the expertise as a cargo/marine surveyor, having worked for 2 large international surveying companies, ie. Toplis & Harding Pte Ltd and Richard Hogg International, dealing with a wide spectrum of survey work including general average, salvage and casualty surveys.
  • From 1981 to 1987, he was the director of a large survey outfit, Kent & Associates Pte Ltd, responsible for its cargo and marine services.  During this period, he had acted as a surveyor for maritime salvors such as Smit International and Semco and dealt with "dead" ships in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
  • For 9 years (1987 to 1995), he was one of the founding directors of a local surveying company, Trispec Services Pte Ltd.  During this time, he acted for many Cargo Underwriters and carried out various investigative surveys into complicated cargo losses/damages and missing cargoes.
  • He left the industry for a short span of time and between 1996 to 1997, he worked as Senior Cargo Surveyor for McLarens Singapore Pte Ltd dealing mainly with air cargo, before joining Insight Marine as the Manager for its Airport Division.
