Young Bruce Wayne, heir to the Wayne fortune,
watched his parents brutally murdered in a mugging. Rasied by his family's butler, Alfred,
Bruce became a solitary, grim young man. Forever scarred by his loss, he dedicated his
life to stopping crime so that no one else would face the loss that he did. Traveling the
world, he studied every martial art he could find, learned detective skills, acquired vast
amounts of knowledge in chemistry and other areas, and began his crusade against evil as
the Batman, his identity chosen to strike fear into the hearts of criminals.
Wayne protects his civilian identity by maintaining the facade of a wealthy playboy,
keeping his public personality as different as possible from the grim, driven persona he
adopts as Batman. While the Wayne Foundation is heavily involved in internation business,
he has the resources of his personal fortune - and first crack at discoveries by
WayneTech's research and development team - to draw on to equip himself with the best in
crimefighting equipment.
After the Gotham Quake destroyed most of Gotham City, and the city limits were sealed off,
Batman focused himself on maintaining order in the No Man's Land that remains. He has
since become actively involved in taking the city back so that it can rebuild.

RELATIONS WITH THE CORE
MEMBERS:
Everybody - One word: paranoid. Batman is a solitary creature, and would
prefer to remain
in Gotham, protecting (and, these days, reclaiming) it. However, he knows the JLA needs
him
for world crises, and will help out -- even if only with his analytical, deductive mind.
This does not mean he trusts them, however, and has a plan to defeat any member in the
event
that he or she becomes a threat, as shown in the recent battle with Ra's Al Ghul which
resulted in his expulsion.
