Fast-pitch
softball program was added to the
Warren Central athletic program in
2000 and Coach Young was tasked with
establishing the team. Coach Yocum,
who join the team as an assistant
coach the same year proved very
helpful with her past fast-pitch
experience.
Since its inception, Coach Young
has led her teams to a winning season
every year. Being assigned to a
District containing two of the State's
perennial powers prevented their
making the playoffs their first two
seasons. However, their experience in
competing against top level teams paid
off in 2002 leading to their first
District Championship while compiling
a 23-2 regular season record and a #1
State ranking.
The Lady Vikes returned to the
State Playoffs again in 2003 and
as Division Champions in 2004.
