August, 2000

August started out with the completion of the insulation and inspections as well as the completion of the stucco lathe on the exterior.  Here's a close-up of the front after lathe and trim have been applied.  This is standing outside the office window facing the front porch.  

The second half of August was drywall.  Here's Randy (our builder), Janet and I discussing how the drywall is going and searching for any lighting fixtures / outlets / switch boxes that might have been hidden by the drywall crew (they're supposed to cut holes for all these things but they usually miss a few on every house). We ended up finding around 5 of them.  Hopefully we got them all!  The drywall was all finished up by the end of August and the drywall sub had started on joint and nail taping before they start texturing.

  We encountered a hiccup on the last day of August - RAIN!  There ended up being a few leaks (because the roof isn't finished yet) but nothing serious at this stage.  The rain was definitely early and hopefully we won't get any more before the roof is finished and the house sealed up.
