September, 2000

The rain at the end of August was a surprise but the builder got the roofing sub out the next day to go go over the roof and make sure all the unfinished openings were sealed up and covered over. That way, we won't get a repeat when the next storm comes through. When the roofers came out to do that work (on a Saturday no less), they went ahead and started laying the roof tile. The got about half the lower roof done that day. That way there will be less for them to do later.

In September, most of the interior work focused on taping the drywall joints and texturing the walls. We went with an "imperfect smooth" finish which is troweled on (much like plastering) rather than sprayed. It took a little while but looked really nice when it was done.

The end of September saw another major delivery occur. The cabinetry! It's all out in the garage right now (filling up an entire 3-car garage) but the builder expects to be moving it into the house around the end of the month in preparation for the interior finish carpentry to start.

If there seems to be a distinct lack of photos this month, don't worry, it's not your eyes. Somehow, we managed to lose an entire roll of film before we could get it processed. Oh well. Knowing the way these things go, we'll probably find the roll when we're unpacking in the new house.

Next month, a new roll of film!
